Japanese actor Nishijima Hidetoshi will visit Korea next month to promote his upcoming film, according to the film's local distributor Sponge House on Friday.
Sponge House announced in a press release that Hidetoshi will be in the country for two days starting February 3 to meet with fans and attend the special screening of his upcoming movie "Cut" which will open nationwide on February 9.
"Cut," helmed by Iranian director Amir Naderi, tells the story of a struggling Indie filmmaker named Shuji (Hidetoshi) who funds his projects from the money he received from his brother who actually borrowed it from the yakuza.
Shuji later decides to work as a human punching bag for the yakuza's underground boxing matches in order to pay back the mob.
The film made its premiere in Korea at the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) last year and was invited to various other fests such as the 36th Toronto International Film Festival and the 68th Venice Film Festival.
Hidetoshi has starred in a number of movies and TV series and received the award for best supporting actor at the 2009 Yokohama Film Festival. He recently starred in Fuji TV's drama "99 Days" with Korean actress Kim Tae-hee.
