On November 23rd, it was announced that NTV (Kanto Local) is going to rerun its legendary drama ‘Kaseifu no Mita‘ starring actress Matsushima Nanako for the first time since its initial broadcast.
The first episode of the rerun is scheduled to air on Sunday, December 16th at 2:00 pm, but the following episodes will be broadcast in the usual ‘Dora-Bara’ rerun time slot at 4:00 pm during weekdays. Before each episode, there is also going to be a reunion format with the four ‘Asuda’ children played by Kutsuna Shiori, Honda Miyu, Ayabe Shuto, and Nakagawa Taishi. They are going to talk about their memories from back then and introduce the upcoming episode.
‘Kaseifu no Mita’ is about a super housekeeper named Mita Akari (Matsushima), who gets dispatched to the Asuda family consisting of the father (Hasegawa Hiroki) and his four children. They have just lost their wife and mother and are now in the middle of a very difficult family crisis. Mita does everything she is being ordered by them, even if that means committing a crime. She is a mysterious woman who seems to have lost her smile, but by helping this family to overcame their crisis, she is also helping herself regaining her smile.
The drama started off quite successful with an initial viewer rating of 19.5%, but that was only the beginning of an incredibly successful season. The final episode recorded an average viewer rating of 40% and the season-average amounted to 25.2%, which actually earned it the title of the most successful non-taiga drama of this century.
