[News] “Miracle in Cell No. 7” Continues Winning Streak on Weekend Box Office.

Korean comedy film “Miracle in Cell No. 7” sat atop the weekend box office for a second week, widening the gap between itself and the runner-up “The Berlin File.”

The comic and moving story of a mentally-ill father and his precocious daughter topped the chart after attracting 1,129,726 moviegoers during the weekend of February 15 to 17, Korean Box Office information System [KOBIS] showed Monday.

The 127-minute movie, helmed by director Lee Hwan-kyung of “Lump of Sugar,” is expected to become the first movie to outnumber the 10 million mark in 2013 with its rich humor and touching moments.

Korean actioner “The Berlin File” kept the No. 2 spot two weeks in a row after attracting 644,460 audience members in the same time frame.

Surpassing the 6 million mark in its fourth week, the Berlin-set blockbuster is set to open in 21 cities in North America including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Toronto and Montreal.

Sitting at the third position is Bruce Willis’ action flick “A Good Day to Die Hard,” which drew in 210, 178 cinemagoers last weekend.

While the new Korean romcom “How to Use Guys with Secret Tips” debuted at No. 4 with 200,891 admissions, the new Hollywood action flick “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” rounded off the top five with 138,407 audience members.

Other movies in the top ten include Danish animation “Marco Marco,” Korean comedy “South Bound,” Russian animation “The Snow Queen,” American comedy  “The Silver Linings Playbook” and Korean animation “Pororo, THE RACING ADVENTURE.”
