On Dec. 29, Seoul Family Court granted the divorce of actor Park Sang-min from his wife Han Na-rae. The judge presiding over the trial said, “During the marriage, Park had verbally abused his spouse Han and therefore is part responsible for the divorce.” The court ordered Park to pay his former wife alimony of 30 million won ($26,000) as well as split Park’s income into an 85 percent and 15 percent ratio, awarding Han with the latter amount.
The couple dated for one year before getting married in 2007. In March 2010, the husband and wife filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences in the marriage. During the legal battle, the 41-year-old star was indicted for hitting his wife, while Han was charged with defamation for talking about her celebrity husband. During the progression of the divorce, Han told media that her husband was a poor provider, making it difficult for her to make ends meet.
Park made his entry into acting through the movie “The General’s Son” in 1990. Since then, the entertainer has featured in various film and television roles from “Tube” (2003) to “City Hunter” (2011). Meanwhile, Han is famous for having hosted an English-language educational program on the EBS channel and is also a professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
