The descendants of Sin Sook-joo claimed a damage suit against the KBS 2 drama "The Princess' Man".

According to the Seoul District Court, 108 descendants of old Sin claimed a damage suit of KRW 3 billion against the broadcasting company and the writer for negatively distorting the image of their ancestor Sin Sook-joo from the Chosun era.

The descendants stated, "The false information in the drama has stepped over the line and violated the honor of the plaintiff, privacy, the esteem and respect of the dead and protection of character".

Sin Sook-joo is a well known character who had the trust of King Sejong and contributed to the creating the Hoonmin-jeongeum, surviving until the time of the prime minister of the Chosun Dynasty. However, he had been framed as a turncoat for later he had betrayed the Danjong and chose the Sejo.

In the drama "The Princess' Man", Sin Sook-joo stood by General Sooyang and played a part in the Gyeyoo-jeongnan and tried to harm his friend by orders of the Sejo. Producer Kim Jeong-minsaid, "This story was created with imagination and creativity. We initially notify that the contents of the drama could be different from the real story at the start of the drama, so KBS thinks this lawsuit isn't appropriate".

"Looking at a precedent of the past, when a drama processed certain details about history or the past there were many who recognized it as freedom of art and freedom of creativity".
