Hallyu star Ryu Si-won has been tapped as the male lead in an upcoming TV series, making his return to the small screen for the first time in four years.

On Monday, the show’s promoter Bliss Media announced in a press release that Ryu will play Cha Seung-hyuk, an ex-martial arts fighter turned sports center C.E.O, in a drama named "Good-bye Wife" (translated title) set to premiere on major daily paper Dong-A Ilbo's new general programming channel Channel A on May 7.

"I decided to take on this project after reading the script because I felt like Cha portrayed who I was," Ryu was quoted as saying.

"Good-bye Wife," helmed by Kim Pyung-joong, will tell the story of how Cha takes his wife, who has yet to be cast, for granted after five years of marriage while he tries to romance his first love once again.
