[News] Kim Yu-na to Help Promote Korean Food
Figure skating queen Kim Yu-na has been named a promotional ambassador for Korean food. The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries made the appointment at KINTEX in Ilsan during the 2010 International Food Industry Exhibition. Kim will promote Korean food to the world with last year's ambassador, pop star Rain.
"Korean food is the source of my strength", Kim said. "I often crave it when I'm abroad. It helps maintain physical health and fitness". She picked galbi (or grilled beef ribs) and kimchi soup as her favorite dishes.
"I hope Korean food becomes much more accessible all around the world", she added. "I'll actively participate in promoting it to people everywhere".
Minister Jang Tae-pyoung presented Kim with beef ribs, and Kim gave Jang her autobiography, "Kim Yu-na's Seven-Minute Drama" as a gift.
