[Lyrics Trans & VOD] One Moment In Time : Whitney Houston

One Moment In Time
Artist : Whitney Houston

...Each day I live,
I want to be.., a day to give the best of me,
I'm only one,
but not alone,
My finest day,
Is yet unknown.

I broke my heart, fought every gain,
To taste the sweet, I face the pain,
I rise and fall,
yet through it all,
This much remains.

I want one moment in time,
When I'm more than I thought I could be,
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me,
Give me one moment in time,
When I'm racing with destiny,
Then in that one moment of time,
I will feel, I will feel eternity.

I've lived to be, the very best,
I want it all,
No time for less,
I've laid the plans,
Now lay the chance,
Here in my hands.

Give me one moment in time,
When I'm more than I thought I could be,
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me,
Give me one moment in time,
When I'm racing with destiny,
Then in that one moment of time,
I will feel, I will feel eternity,
You're a winner for a lifetime,
If you seize that one moment in time,
Make it shine.

Give me one moment in time,
When I'm more than I thought I could be,
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me,
Give me one moment in time,
When I'm racing with destiny,
Then in that one moment of time.

I will be
I will be
I will be free,
I will be
I will be free.

[News] Shock at 'Whitney Houston' death.

Pop legend Whitney Houston died Saturday aged 48 in a Beverly Hills hotel on the eve of the Grammys, triggering shock and a wave of tributes as music stars gathered for the annual awards show.

Houston, whose hits include "I will Always Love You," was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton, hours before a traditional pre-Grammys dinner hosted by veteran producer Clive Davis, who discovered Houston.

Musicians, many already in Los Angeles ahead of the Grammys on Sunday, lined up to pay tribute to the singer, who sold over 170 million records before descending into a very public battle with substance abuse.

"She was one of the greatest singers I ever heard," said veteran crooner Tony Bennett, on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills hotel, where Houston's body was found in her fourth floor room.

Police confirmed her death in a brief statement outside the hotel. "At 3:55 pm, Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at the Beverly Hilton hotel," said Mark Rosen, a police spokesman.

A member of her entourage called 911 after the singer was found on the floor of her room. Attempts were made to resuscitate her, but failed. The cause of death was not immediately known.

"There were no obvious signs of criminal intent at this time, and it is being investigated by the Beverly Hills police department," said the police spokesman.

But The Los Angeles Times reported that days before her death, Houston behaved erratically during an appearance Thursday at a rehearsal for a Grammy awards party.

Though she greeted people with a warm smile, she appeared disheveled, with mismatched clothes and dripping-wet hair, the paper said.

According to the report, the singer flailed her hands frenetically as she spoke, skipped around the ballroom in a childlike fashion and wandered aimlessly about the lobby.

People magazine and the TMZ celebrity website reported that Houston had been due to attend the Saturday night dinner, hosted by Davis -- who developed the young singer who made a string of 11 number one hits in the 1980s and 90s.

Condolences poured in on Twitter from shocked fans and from the famous, as sadness over the news spread through the entertainment world.

"Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend ... She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth," wrote Mariah Carey.

Grammys organizing chief Neil Portnow called Houston "one of the world's greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades.

"A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice," said the head of the Recording Academy.

Smokey Robinson told CNN: "I will always love her. She is one of the greatest voices in the history of music."

The Recording Academy is scrambling to include some kind of tribute to Houston in Sunday evening's show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, according to CNN.

The tribute could involve singer Jennifer Hudson, it added, while Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich told the broadcaster whatever was staged would be "respectful" while highlighting her stunning music.

"Knowing Whitney as I did ... she knew the importance of thrilling an audience, and that's what we still plan to do."

With a ferociously powerful voice and a dazzling range, Houston achieved stardom as a pop-soul singer known as "The Voice" and the "Queen of Pop." She also appeared in hit movies like "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Bodyguard."

From a musical family that included mother Cissy Houston, a gospel star, and Dionne Warwick, her cousin, Whitney Houston started out as a teen model and then made a dazzling segue to music.

Her hits included "How Will I Know," "Saving all My Love for You," and "I Will Always Love You."

Houston's trove of six Grammy awards included one for record of the year -- for a soaring cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," and another for album of the year for "The Bodyguard."

Houston, who grew up in New Jersey, was also a supporter of the anti-apartheid movement and South Africa's Nelson Mandela, on whose behalf she campaigned during his imprisonment.

She struggled with substance abuse, which took a toll on her health and career.

In a 2009 interview with TV talk show hostess Oprah Winfrey, Houston blamed the emotionally abusive and jealous ex-husband Bobby Brown for many of her problems, admitted that she laced her marijuana with rock cocaine, and revealed that she'd spent time in rehab.

Houston has sold more than 170 million records worldwide but suffered a major career setback after admitting drug use during her relationship with Brown.

Brown was one of the hottest rhythm and blues singers in the late 1980s and early 90s, but became better known as the husband of Houston and for his frequent brushes with drugs and the law.

The pair, who were divorced in 2007, starred in a television reality series, "Being Bobby Brown," that featured their marriage, warts and all. They have a daughter Bobbi Kristina.

[Photo & Interview] Kim Bum: From Flower Boy to Real Actor.

[Photo & Interview] Kim Bum: From Flower Boy to Real Actor.
Cr. - soompi

Not long ago, he was a cute boy that charmed the hearts of noonas and moms worldwide. But now, he has come back as an actor with godly presence.

With his large eyes and slow but confident talk, Kim Bum exudes his own special kind of charm. When looking at Bum momentarily lost in thought, you can see the slight hint of innocence in his eyes.

He is no longer the flower boy everyone remembers him to be. Along with a matured look, he has become an actor that sticks to his new philosophy of “becoming an actor who’s not afraid of challenge or change,” when selecting his next projects. With looks that match his acting talent, Kim Bum is the kind of actor that’s hard to find these days.

Although there are actors that only change in image but don’t show any change in acting, Kim Bum is a different case. His image changed significantly after losing 11kg, and his acting improved accordingly. Undoubtedly, Kim Bum is an actor with both the looks and acting talent.

The actor’s significant acting improvements can be seen through his new drama, JTBC’s “Padam Padam…The Sound of His and Her Heartbeats.”

Kim Bum, on Gaspard Ulliel

Gaspard Ulliel is a French actor who's fairly unknown to Korea. However, if referred to as the actor that played the main character in the movie “Hannibal Rising,” some may be able to recognize him. Gaspard Ulliel has been recently gaining attention in Korea for being very similar to Kim Bum.

One striking similarity between the two actors is their looks. With their v-shaped chins, pointed noses, thin lips, and above all, their pretty faces that with an innocent look, make each look very alike the other.

“Even to me, we look very similar. My mom was the one who first told me about it, and even she thinks we do, so I think we look alike. (Laughs) I’ve gotten more interested in the actor due to this.”

Secondly, both have played roles as angels. Kim Bum played an angel in “Padam Padam,” while Ulliel played one in his movie, “The Vintner’s Luck.”

“I really wanted to see ‘The Vintner’s Luck,’ but I couldn’t find it in Korea. Wherever I went, they said they didn't show it, so I could only look at the still shots from the movie, and I thought it was very unique. It felt like I was looking at myself, just dressed a little differently... His angel had a different feel from Padam Padam’s Gooksu, but the concept was very similar.”

Lastly, both have been gradually improving as actors, advancing forward in their industry.

“He’s one of my favorite actors. Whether it’s romance, or playing an assassin like in “Hannibal Rising,” I think he’s a really good actor. I first found out about him because we looked alike, but I’m getting more interested in him as an actor.”

Kim Bum, on being an actor

Kim Bum recently showed off his excellent acting skills though his drama, “Padam Padam.” After seeing him in the drama, you will no longer think of his character in “Boys Over Flowers.”

Playing the role of Kang Chil's (Jung Woo Sung) guardian angel, Kim Bum’s striking gaze and matured acting skills are unbelievable to be that of a 23-year-old.

“After a long break from acting, I’m very glad to be working with the Padam Padam team, with a great director and writer, and actors that work very hard on their parts. At our first meeting, I was shocked at how everyone was very open and expressed their ideas well. I couldn’t help but do my very best in that kind of environment. I would constantly look over my script, try to get into my character and express his feelings just right.”

Fellow co-star Jung Woo Sung played an important role in the improvement of Kim Bum’s acting skills. Jung Woo Sung was able to solve any problems he encountered with acting. Kim Bum revealed that he wants to learn from his sunbae’s serious approach and efforts towards acting, and the affectionate way Jung treats his hoobaes, or juniors.

“Whenever I’m worrying about a scene, Woo Sung hyung seems to find out immediately, and comes over to give me some of his advice. Instead of looking at the script for several hours at home, listening to his words of advice for 5 or 10 minutes is much more helpful to me. He often shows me any physical gestures or facial expressions I could use. Above all, I think the way he treats the staff and his juniors in a kind and friendly manner is most impressive. Whenever I see Woo Sung hyung, I think, “I want to be a sunbae like him.”

Kim Bum is well on his way to become a great actor. Although it’s important to keep a good image, he plans to always keep one thing in mind.

“This is my philosophy: ‘Becoming an actor who’s not afraid of challenge and change.’ I’ve kept this idea in the past, I’m keeping it now, and will always keep it in the future.”

Jeju Island spent W21.1 billion on phone calls alone during voting for inclusion among the "New 7 Wonders of Nature" (US$1=W1,116). The Jeju government informed the National Assembly's Culture, Sports, Tourism, Broadcasting and Communication Committee of the expenses at a meeting on the island on Thursday.

Telecom provider KT, which signed a sponsorship contract with the New 7 Wonders Foundation, slapped the Jeju government with a W17 billion phone bill, minus W4.2 billion in profits generated by the phone voting process. The Jeju government paid W10.4 billion until the end of December.

The island has spent W8.15 billion from its 2012 budget to pay for the phone bill and tapped into the supplementary budget to cover another W2.28 billion. KT has agreed to let Jeju pay the remaining W6.5 billion in monthly installments of W110 million over the next five years.

To get people to participate in the phone voting, Jeju officials formed a sponsorship deal with KT so that each international phone call vote were charged just W198, rather than the regular W1,200.

Jeju assembly member So Won-ok said the island "ended up buying the title and it cost taxpayers an arm and a leg." A Jeju government official said, "The New 7 Wonders Foundation signed a contract with KT, so we don't know how much of the phone fees goes to the foundation." He pledged to make sure the island "reaps far more benefits than the costs of the phone voting process."

[Interview : Manuel Lopez Trigo, Ambassador Costa Rica] "I know very little about the Lunar New Year".

Jeongwol Daeboreum [정월대보름], or the Great Full Moon Festival which is celebrated on January 15 on the lunar calendar, is one of Korea's biggest holidays. On Jeongwol Daeboreum[정월대보름], Koreans observed the brightest moon of the year since a long time ago.

[Interview : Kim Yun-hui, Visitor] "Jeongwol Daeboreum fosters solidarity in the region and drives out misfortunes. Our ancestors thought the first full moon of the Lunar New Year symbolized good luck".

[Interview : Bae Jun-seok, Visitor] "We wish for good harvest. It's also meant to drive out all misfortunes and bring in good luck".

Various seasonal customs and folk games are carried out on Jeongwol Daeboreum.

Foreign guests are animated by the performance of traditional Korean music.

Jeongwol Daeboreum celebrates the first full moon of the Lunar New Year. Each custom is believed to hold a special meaning.

How much do these foreign participants know about these customs

[ENG]
[SOV]
[Interview : ] "No".

[Interview : ] "Kite-flying. This is campfire. This is praying".

Foreign participants join in the celebrations. First, they try kite-flying, which is believed to bring in good luck.

Then, they try tuho[투호], a royal court game of throwing arrows into a container, and learn traditional Korean percussion music.
Despite it being their first time, they find themselves fully immersed in the experience.

[ENG]
[Interview : Nicholas Tandi Dammen, Ambassador Indonesia] "This is unique. It's very unique, so I don't think we can find it in other countries".

[Interview : Jairo Lopez, Minister Costa Rica] "Very interesting. I thought it would be easy to move the head and move it around, but it wasn't. So I really appreciate that they're keeping the traditions. It's very nice".

There are traditional dishes you can't miss out on Jeongwol Daeboreum. A homemaker carefully prepares a table of ogokbap, or five-grains rice, and samsaek namul [삼색나물], or three-color vegetables. Koreans have traditionally enjoyed these dishes on Jeongwol Daeboreum to garner up energy for the new year.

[Interview : Byeon Yeong-a, Homemaker] "There's an old saying that eating ogokbap and samsaek namul on Jeongwol Daeboreum will keep you healthy throughout the year. So by eating them today, I wish that my family will stay healthy this year".

Foreign guests also try the delicious ogokbap and samsaek namul.

[ENG]
[SOV]
[Interview : ] "It's a full moon food that has all different kinds of color. You can see Korean potatoes. We normally eat it right before the full moon day".

Knowing the meaning behind each dish makes it even more flavorful.

[ENG]
[Interview : Abdullah Zawawi bin Tahir, Deputy chief Malaysia] "This is very good. It's healthy and keeps my stomach flat".

[Interview : Mmad Masameh, Second secretary
Jordan] "Actually, it tastes very good and the setting is very nice because it's colorful. I think it will be healthy also because there are so many vegetables included in this dish".

After dinner, they crack bureom [부럼], or a collection of nuts. The cracking noise is believed to drive out evil spirits.

[ENG]
[Interview : Genaro Ambia Minero, Assistant of Military Attache Mexico] "I don't know why you crack nuts. Is it for good luck"

[Interview : Sim Sang-suk, Director
Korean Etiquette Education Association] "The word bureom derives from"buseureom", which means boil. There's a traditional saying that if you crack bureom in your mouth, your teeth will become healthy and you won't suffer from boils all year long. There's another saying that the cracking noise will drive out evil spirits. That's why our ancestors cracked bureom on Jeongwol Daeboreum".

The highlight of Jeongwol Daeboreum is no doubt the burning of the daljip[달집], which refers to a large heap of straw and tree branches. People place their wish notes on the daljip and burn them together, believing that doing so will make their wishes come true.

[Interview : Kim In-ja, Visitor] "We burn daljip to wish for good health. It's the first major event in the Lunar New Year. It has been believed since a long time ago that burning daljip will bring us good health and make our wishes come true".

The full moon finally makes an appearance above the bonfire.

They wish that this year will be filled with fortune and health.

Each of them pray in earnest for their wishes to come true.

[Interview : Yu Eun-sang, Visitor] "I have a feeling that all my wishes will come true and my family will stay healthy this year".

[Interview : Jeong Hui-suk, Visitor] "I feel as if all the misfortunes are being burnt away along with daljip. I feel very invigorated".

[ENG]
[Interview : Ivans Bozdechoova, Professor of Czech Language & Linguistics Hankuk University of Foreign Studies] "The first full moon of the year, it makes me so happy. And it's so friendly and so open-hearted that I feel privileged and blessed. Thank you all very very much. And once again, very happy new year!"

[STUDIO]

I had no idea about that cracking sounds get rid of bad spirits.
And did you see that mound of peanuts in the office Yes it was for the Jeongwol Daeboreum[정월대보름] apparently you're supposed to crack the shells between your teeth.
I didn't hear too much of that. We have some very polite office mates.
But there were shells all over the place.
Well everybody hope you cast out the bad spirits and ushered in good ones. Stay with us.

[News] Lee Na-young Faces Tough Challenge on New Movie.
Cr. - http://english.chosun.com/

Lee Na-young's latest film "Howling," which will be released next Thursday, sees her take on the role of a rookie cop investigating a series of murders by a mysterious wolf-like creature.

In this action-thriller, Lee flexes her muscles as a hard-nosed police detective and even rides a motorcycle. "This film had so many enticing factors. First of all, I wanted to play a part with many action scenes. Veteran actor Song Kang-ho was already cast, so I had an even stronger interest in it when I read the script," said Lee.

"Then I was more surprised because the main protagonist is actually the female detective. I thought it would be hard to find a project like this in the future."

Did she long to star in an action film? "I was heavily influenced by the action films of Angelina Jolie, as well as Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill' movies," she said. "To be honest, my desires and goals change whenever I see impressive films and actors. For example, I became interested in the transgender lead role in 'Lady Daddy' after being moved by Cate Blanchett playing Bob Dylan in Todd Haynes' 'I'm Not There.'"

Lee tends to pump out one film on average every two years as she often takes a break after each project ends. So what does she do when she is not shooting?

"I often spend time taking lessons in various sports and subjects, including ballet, foreign languages and piano. And of course I devote some time to my whims and fancies. I know it's a cliché, but acting has become my life. I'm never satisfied with my work, so it's constantly a challenge, but it also makes me more ambitious."

[News] Jang Dong-gun and Kim Haneul confirm 'A Gentleman’s Dignity' SBS new drama.

[News] Jang Dong-gun and Kim Haneul confirm 'A Gentleman’s Dignity' SBS new drama.
Cr. - dramabeans

Jang Dong-gun (Warrior’s Way) and Kim Haneul (Blind) have signed on to star in upcoming SBS weekend drama A Gentleman’s Dignity, the highly anticipated drama from the team behind Secret Garden and Lovers in Paris — PD Shin Woo-chul and writer Kim Eun-suk.

The drama has been described as a 40-something male version of Sex and the City, but I’m so tired of that description because it tells me nothing other than it being guy-centric and let’s face it, is probably completely inaccurate anyway.

Kim Haneul will play a high school ethics teacher named Song Yi-soo, who isn’t exactly rough or mean, but is stern and determined. She’s also an amateur baseball umpire on the side. That’s random. Ethics and baseball. Jang Dong-gun plays Kim Do-jin, successful chief architect, known mostly for his incendiary vicious tongue.

The concept is described as both a romantic-comedy and romantic-melodrama about love and loss. It centers around four men who have crossed north of forty and feel like nothing in the world can captivate them anymore, and four women who miss the faint memory of first love’s excitement.

Jung Il-woo may hold a fan meeting in Japan soon, according to his agency fantagio on Friday.

A rep with fantagio told 10Asia that Jung will most likely visit Japan for a fan meeting after concluding his current TV series "The Moon Embracing the Sun.

"We have yet to set a final date though we are in discussions with Jung's agency in Japan since his other works '49 Days' and 'Cool Guys, Hot Ramen' are doing well in the country," the official explained.

Jung is currently playing the role of Yang Myung who is the older brother to Lee Hwon (played by actor Kim Soo-hyun) in MBC's TV series "The Moon Embracing the Sun." The series is also one of the most-watched dramas on the Wednesday and Thursday primetime lineup.

Jung rose to stardom in Korea and in the neighboring Asian countries after starring in MBC's sitcom "High Kick!" (2006-2007), "The Return of Iljimae" (2009), SBS' "49 Days" and tvN's "Cool Guys, Hot Ramen."
