Hallyu Star Gong Yoo and actress Jung Yu-mi offered sacrifice for the safe filming of movie "Dogani" with writer Gong Ji-young.
They paid respects on the 9th in the building of their company NOA Entertainment. "Dogani", which is based on the novel by writer Gong Ji-young is about a teacher who gets appointed to a school for the deaf and a human rights activist as they unveil the violence and tragedies happening in the school to the world motivated by a sexual violence case that happened in the school.
This was a real story written in 2009 and got attention enough to have its own commission of investigation set up.
This day not only Gong Yoo and Jung Yu-mi were there but the writer herself and other staff prayed for the best of the movie. Writer Gong Ji-young conveyed, "It hurt a lot while writing this novel but I felt it worth the while when I saw how much more lightened the victims looked after the publishing of the book".
Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuok, "Dogani" will be released in the later half of the year.

Gong Yoo and actress Jung Yu-mi have been cast together in a new film, announced their agency N.O.A. Entertainment on Friday.
According to a press release by N.O.A., film "Dogani", whose title can be translated into 'a scene', is based on the 2009 best-seller of the same name written by Korean writer Gong Ji-young who looked into a sexual violence case committed in one of the schools for hearing-impaired people in Gwangju.
Gong Yoo will play a teacher at the school who discovers the case and Jung, a human rights activist who joins Gong's efforts to publicize the case, standing opposed to the school's staff and other officers who try to conceal the incident.
The film, to be directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, will crank in next month and is expected to premiere around the latter half of this year.
Gong, 31, whose real name is Gong Ji-chul, debuted with a role in KBS' TV series "School 4" in 2001 and since then has appeared in more than a handful of dramas including "One Fine Day" (MBC, 2006) and "Biscuit Teacher And Star Candy" (SBS, 2005) and films "My Tutor Friend (2003)", "S Diary (2004)" Spy Girl (2004) and "She's on Duty" (2005).
He rose to stardom as a heartthrob in MBC's hit romance series "Coffee Prince" (2007) about a guy who falls in love with a girl disguised as a boy. After being discharged from his two-year mandatory military service he co-starred in "Finding Mr. Destiny (2010)" with actress Im Soo-jung.
Jung, 27, made her debut in 2004 starring in film "How To Operate a Polaroid Camera" and later appeared in quite a few indie films including "The Room Nearby" (2008), "Like You Know It All" (2009), "Cafe Noir" (2009), "My Dear Desperado" (2010) and particularly "Oki's Movie (2010)" which had her invited to the 67th Venice International Film Festival last year.
