Master of Korean movies, director Im Kwon-taek gave some smart advice to junior director Lee Joon-ik for his declaration of retirement from commercial movies.
Director Im said, it was a thoughtless comment at the question of his thoughts in an interview with Asian Finance, Sports Today.
Director Im emphasizes, "I can't agree with him and he is an excellent director in promoting his movies".
He continued, "Despite how much it cost to make the movie, "Battlefield Heroes" created a result of 2 million viewers. He made such a big success but being greedy and wanting more in unacceptable.
"Saying he won't make anymore commercial movies because they don't succeed is a thoughtless thing. He has talent but making the decision alone is not right. A movie is not something that can be dealt like that".
Director Lee who created a hit with movie "The King and the Clown" of over 10 millions viewers, declared if "Battlefield Heroes" didn't meet the breaking point, that he would retire.
"Battlefield Heroes" in the end didn't meet the breaking point of 2.5 million and director Lee expressed he would retire.
Meanwhile, director Im is looking forward to his 101th movie "Hanji" to be released on the 17th with Park Joong-hoon and Ye Ji-won.
