The Korean period comedy "Detective K" will make its debut in North American theaters this month.
Starring Kim Myung-min as a kooky detective, it was shown at the Berlin Film Festival's film market last month and buyers will distribute the movie to U.S., Canadian and Australian theaters.
"Detective K" is slated to open Friday in Los Angeles. Subsequent releases will follow on March 11 in San Francisco, Atlanta, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas as well as in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington and Hawaii.
The film will also grace the big screen in Vancouver, Canada and Sydney, Australia on March 17.
Other countries such as China, Taiwan, Thailand, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg have purchased the rights to distribute the film.
The comedy has been invited to show at the Hawaii International Film Festival, which opens on April 1.
Currently ranking among the top 5 at the local box office, "Detective K" traces the adventures of a detective trying to solve a tax fraud case during the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910).
