Ha Jung-woo has been invited to the Cannes Film Festival for the fourth time, informed his agency N.O.A. Entertainment.

Accordingly, Ha took off to France yesterday to attend the 64th edition of the film fest for his 2010 film "The Murderer (The Yellow Sea)," a story of deadly chase between three men which will be screened under the Un Certain Regard category.

In the film, Ha played a poor Chinese-Korean living on the border village of Yanbian, who ends up accepting a request to commit murder from a broker in order to find his wife whom he lost contact with after she left home to earn a living in Korea.

The role won him the award for best actor at the 2011 Asian Film Awards held in late March.

However, despite receiving an invitation for the prestigious fest in Cannes four times now, this will be Ha's third time attending the event, running from May 11 to 22 this year.

Ha was first invited to Cannes in 2006 with film “The Unforgiven” (2006) directed by Yoon Jong-bin and the second time the following year with director Kim Ki-duk’s “Breathe” (2007) but missing on the latter event due to filming a drama.

He then walked the fest's red carpet for film “The Chaser” (2008) helmed by director Na and co-starring actor Kim Yun-seok.

“I’m glad to visit Cannes once again with director Na Hong-jin and fellow actor Kim Yun-seok,” Ha was quoted as saying in the statement. “Thank you for your continuous interest and I look forward to this chance to getting together with them."

Ha, whose real name is Kim Sung-hoon, is the son of veteran Korean actor Kim Yong-gun. He first gained recognition appearing in several television dramas including "Lovers in Prague" (SBS, 2005) and TV series "H.I.T."

He rose to stardom after playing a serial killer in suspense thriller pic "The Chaser" and solidified his movie star status with "Take Off" (2009), which became one of the most-watched films in Korean box office history.

Ha's future film projects include “Waging War Against Crime” (translated title) by director Yoon and starring actor Choi Min-sik as well as a romance flick tentatively titled "Love Fiction" headed by director Jeon Kye-soo which is scheduled to crank in mid-June.
