Kim Bum has signed an exclusive contract with major Japanese talenthouse Pony Canyon, according to his local agency King Kong Entertainment.
On Wednesday, King Kong announced in a press release that Kim will officially begin his activities in Japan with Pony Canyon, a subsidiary of Japanese Media Group Fujisankei Communications Group.
Pony Canyon is in charge of the careers of top Japanese stars including w-inds, Aiko, Ueto Aya as well as distributing albums for Korean artists such as Jang Keun-suk, Ahn Jae-wook and boy band SS501.
"Kim Bum is an actor with many qualities such as his manly and intellectual look as well as a great sense of fashion," an official from Pony Canyon was quoted as saying. "His popularity in the country and in other regions in Asia has increased through his roles in KBS' 'Boys Over Flowers' and he displayed his musical abilities in MBC's 'Still, Marry Me.'"
The official went onto explain that the company has high hopes for the actor and will expand his career in Japan through this venture.
Kim made his debut in 2006 and has starred in several dramas and movies such as MBC's sitcom "High Kick" and KBS' popular hit series "Boys Over Flowers" alongside Korean stars Ku Hye-sun and Lee Min-ho.
He recently opened his official Facebook account which has attracted over 2.5 million friends worldwide, making him rank fifth among all celebrities.
