Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon, 39, one of the most famous movie stars in Asia, is likely to jump into the K-pop idol group market, which has been spotlighted after a performance in Paris last week.
"We are only in the first stage of creating a boy band", said a spokesman of Key East Entertainment, in which Bae is the major shareholder. "We have yet to decide on how many members it will be comprised of or what kind of musical style it will take".
Bae actively worked with labelmate singer Kim Hyun-joong on his latest album. "He has been studying his music hard", he was quoted as saying in a recent showcase of Kim's solo album release. Kim is a former member of the five-member boy band, SS501.
Key East Entertainment also partnered with music giant JYP Entertainment for the production of "Dream High", a television soap that aired in January and February.
