Pop sensation Jang Keun Suk is projected to make more than 40 billion won (38 million USD) in revenues from Japan this year, which would make him one of the most profitable Korean celebrities since Bae Yong Joon.

Japanese media Nikkan Gendai reported, “Jang Keun Suk is expected to make at least 40 billion won off of album, concert ticket, photo book, and character merchandise sales, as well as advertisement deals in this year alone. He received 800 million won (751,000 USD) from the Suntori Seoul Makgeolli commercial, and it looks like his revenue might surpass that of Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon. Under this pace, Jang Keun Suk’s single commercial fee will easily go over 1 billion won (939,000 USD) next year. A bunch of companies are already waiting to film a commercial with him.”

The singer/actor has sold over 120,000 copies of his Japanese debut single, “Let Me Cry,” in April, becoming the first foreign artist to reach #1 on Oricon Weekly Charts in the first week of release. Also, his photo album “J Plus” received more than 50,000 pre-order sales, as Nikkan Gendai forecasted his album and photo book sales should exceed 8 billion won (7.5 million USD) this year.

Jang Keun Suk is scheduled to go on a Japanese Tour later this year. From his ticket and merchandise sales, Jang Keun Suk is expected to rake in another 17 billion won (16 million USD) in revenue. Nikkan Gendai said, “Just from his merchandise sales, Jang Geun Suk would be able to make 100 million yen a day.”

Meanwhile, Jang Keun Suk became the first Korean celebrity to be featured on the front cover of Japan’s famous magazine, “Men’s Non No.” In March, he was also the front cover model for Japanese weekly magazine “Anan,” which sold a record-high 280,000 copies.
