Yoo Ah-in waves to fans at the outdoor greeting event for his film "Punch" held at the 16th Busan International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea on October 9, 2011.
It only lasted for ten minutes. But during this brief time, the already warm weather at Busan's Haeundae beach rose to a good heat. The sound of numerous people cheering, camera shutters going off and laughing filled up the outdoor stage of the greeting event for film "Punch" held at the BIFF Village of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on Sunday. Spectators who had gathered at the stage 30 minutes ahead of time groaned in unison when told the event would not be able to start on time because the actors had yet to arrive at the venue yet they all let out a sigh of relief when then told they would only be five minutes late.
And the person they were so waiting for like this was none other than actor Yoo Ah-in, the main character to the movie. They responded enthusiastically to every small motion he made or word he said, prompting Yoo to say: "This is my fourth time here but it seems like I've received the warmest welcome today so it's made me think that I've been working hard and that I should work even harder." Kim Yun-seok, who plays his homeroom teacher Dong-joo in the film, jokingly remarked, "I definitely beat up Wan-duk (Yoo) a lot so I ask Yoo's fans to forgive me for it."
In the movie, Dong-joo may be the one that tries to pull Wan-duk, constantly trying to hide and shut himself off from everything, into the world. But in real life, it seems to be the love of Yoo's fans that pulls out the actor, young and smart enough to say, "Wan-duk may be called the troublemaker but in Wan-duk's eyes, the adults are the troublemakers," into the world.
