Taiwanese actor Vic Chou, who shot to fame when he debuted as one-fourth of the band F4 almost 11 years ago have come a long way since.

In particular, his acting skills caught the attention of many after starring in the television drama, Mars, back in 2004.

Speaking to the Taiwanese media in an interview days ago, Vic recalled on his newbie days, "I have to thank director Cai Yue Xun for his direction and Barbie (Hsu), who really takes good care of newcomers. She taught me a lot."

Vic had formerly dated Barbie and although the pair broke up more than three years ago, Vic is still concern about his former girlfriend.

When faced with negative news about Barbie, Vic spoke up for her.

"I like positive things. Whenever I see any negative reports, I will get angry because as someone who is also in showbiz, I know that some reported things aren't true."

Another drama which showed Vic's tremendous improvement in acting was the police and thief drama Black and White, in 2009. The drama even helped garner him a Best Actor nomination at the Golden Bell Awards the following year.

However, Vic lost to co-star Mark Chao in the awards, and it was rumoured that the actor then rejected the offer to star in the movie sequel of Black and White.

On the issue, Vic explained, "I feel that the character of Chen Zai Tian (Vic's character in the show) has already been pushed to the limit in the drama series and is hard to achieve another breakthrough. I don't want to use the same acting techniques and repeat things once again, so I chose to give up."

On the other hand, Vic said that he used to be close friends with Mark during the filming of the drama, but maintains that their friendship ended with the show.

"Mark and I were friends when we were filming Black and White. He is a very hard working actor and I hope that he will succeed. But after Black and White wrapped, I'm back to my lonesome self once again."

Vic is currently busy with promotions for his latest movie, Perfect Two.
