If you liked "Charlie's Angels" but thought that it ought to have been set in the Joseon era, a new fusion saeguk may grant your filmgoing wishes. The film, "Joseon Trio of Beauties," alternatively called "The Huntresses," stars Ha Ji Won, Kang Ye Won and Brown Eyed Girls' Ga In as three beautiful bounty hunters during the time of the Joseon dynasty.

Ha Ji Won, best known for her roles in the dramas "Secret Garden" and "King 2 Hearts," plays the Jin Ok, the group's smart and highly skilled leader. Jin Ok is skilled in martial arts, invents secret weapons and has a talent for disguise. If the martial arts skills she displayed in "Secret Garden," are any indicator, this film should have plenty of fun action scenes.

Kang Ye Won plays Hong Dan Ga, a married woman less interested in domestic skills than she is in wielding a sword and throwing daggers. She's also obsessed with money. Before taking on this movie role, the actress appeared on "We Got Married with Jo Kwon from 2 AM. She also appeared in the MBC daily sitcom, "All My Love."

Son Ga In plays Ga Bi, the youngest member of the bounty-hunting group and a girl who is quick with her fists. Son Ga is a member of the girl band Brown Eyed Girls and has also pursued a solo career as an actress and singer. She will appear on the video for PSY's new single, "Gentle Man."

Rounding out the cast is Joo Sang Wook, who previously appeared in "Special Affairs Team 10." He will play Sa Hyun, a warrior who threatens the women, while Ko Chang Seok, who recently appeared in "Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek," will play Moo Myung, a monk.

In this action-comedy, the three women use their skills to save the country from danger. In the film, the bounty hunters become legendary because they never fail to catch their target. But the costumes the actresses wear in the film have also caused some comments,

Posters for the movie caused fans to question the accuracy of some of the actresses' revealing outfits and their modern eye makeup but representatives of the production company explained that since the film is a fusion saeguk, such details don't have to be that accurate. It's much more important that the audiences enjoy the film and have fun watching it.

Netizens agreed that the movie, which will air in May, sounds like good "popcorn" fun.

"All About My Love Life" Love and Politics? How This Story Could Improve

[News] "All About My Love Life" Love and Politics? How This Story Could Improve.
Cr. - KDramaStars

SBS "All About My Love Life" is very similar to "Protect the Boss" but will it become just as popular? More fantasy?

Politicians and Love, are these things that are very hard to co-exist in a comical drama?

The 2nd episode of "All About My Love Life" received a viewing rate of 5.5%, which is a 1.9% decline from the first episode. MBC's "When a Man Falls in Love" received 11.4% while KBS's "IRIS 2" received 9.7%. SBS's "All About My Love Life" ranked last among Wednesday-Thursday dramas.

In "All About My Love Life", politicians do anything in their power to get ahead. They even meet at a bar surrounded by women to discuss their secret plans. This drama seems to feature certain corruptions in the society and the establishment of members in the official government.

Kim Soo Young (Shin Ha Kyun) is a member of the ruling party but criticizes his own party during a public debate. Even though he is an outsider who does not even participate in political decision making, he is constantly on the lookout for an opportunity. Kim Soo Young is portrayed as an awkward person who is basically an outcast.

The character No Min Young played by Lee Min Jung, is naïve and always righteous. Whenever she goes to an interview, she gets rejected 100% of the time. The jobs she barely scored were temporary ones and finally a seat in a conservative party with only two seats in the House.

Viewers seem to be having a hard time accepting a political figure who is an outcast in the society. They also have a bit of a hard time accepting Lee Min Jung's character, No Min Young, who yells out justice at the end of her every sentence. It doesn't seem realistic since No Min Young seems neither liberal nor conservative but demands only justice, making her character hard to relate.

Or maybe the bigger problem at hand is that the viewers are having a hard time watching a drama that is filled with corruptions and problems as our actual society is. In a tough economy as the one we're experiencing now, people may just simply want a fantasy-romantic-comedy. By seeing that "When a Man Falls in Love" is drawing attention from the viewers, people still prefer to see fantasy in a drama rather than a mirror image of the reality.

As the story develops more, we will find out whether this story will take a turn for the better.

Actor Lee Jun Ki is considering a new role. He is in talks to star in the drama, "Inspiring Generation," which that takes place in Shanghai, China in the 1930s. It's a story of love, heroism and patriotism.

The action-packed drama is based on Bang Hak Gil's comic, "Inspiring Generation."

Lee Jun Ki would play the hero, a seemingly ordinary guy, who is secretly an amazing fighter. The KBS drama would be broadcast later in the year.

Lee Jun Ki's last role was in "Arang the Magistrate." In "Arang and the Magistrate," he played Kim Eun Oh, a nobleman who can see spirits but is annoyed when they pester him and ask him for favors. Although ratings for the drama were initially disappointing, the series ultimately managed to achieve a 12.8 percent rating. Even though the show's ratings were disappointing, Lee did enjoy acting in a historical drama.

He admits that he likes trying different kinds of roles, which is obvious from the variety of dramas he has appeared in.

"With each project, I try and change a little," he said.

His first major acting role came in the film, "The King and the Clown," when he played Gong Gil a homosexual clown. He was chosen for the role because of his ability to do handstands and his flower boy good looks. Although the role made him a star, he did not want to be defined by his looks. He was worked to change his flower boy image.

Next, he played the wealthy playboy, Seo Jung Woo, in the 2005 romantic comedy, "My Girl." His co-stars were Park Si Yeon, Lee Da Hae, and Lee Dong Wook. These two roles propelled his fame throughout Asia.

In 2008, he tried his hand at another period drama, "Iljimae," where he appeared as Iljimae, a Joseon era Robin Hood. His role as Lee Soo Hyun, an NIS agent with a violent temper in "Time Between Dog And Wolf" further boosted his popularity. He was such a popular Hallyu star, with such a large following of fans in Japan that he was appointed as a Korean tourism ambassador. In 2010 he enlisted in the army.

"Arang and the Magistrate" was his first role since leaving the army.

Last month the actor tweeted that he was bored by channel surfing and in response, his fans suggested he find a new drama. "Inspiring Generation" might be it.

[News] Networks Will Not Ban Park Shi Hoo—Yet.
Cr. - KDramaStars

The decision by broadcast stations to ban Go Young Wook before he was sentenced had Park Shi Hoo's fans wondering: Are the stations going to ban the actor without waiting for a verdict?

This week, ex RooRa member and entertainer Go Young Wook was sentenced to five years of jail and 10 years of wearing an electronic ankle bracelet. He was sentenced for sexual assault and having sex with minors, including girls as young as 13. Prosecutors said that while he was being investigated for one assault, he molested another minor.

Broadcast stations KBS, SBS and MBC have said they will consider Park Shi Hoo's case differently, as no minors were involved. They will wait for the final verdict before taking any action.

In response to questions by media outlet Osen, MBC said that "When a celebrity has caused a disturbance, we decide on whether to ban that person or not, after there is a legal judgment."

In the case of Go Young Wook, since the issue involved minors, they made an exception and decided to ban him from appearing last year.

When asked about banning Park, KBS said "Since there is no decision, he is currently not a subject under broadcast regulations."

SBS also said it would wait for the verdict. "People who have received sentences that are problematic to the society cannot appear on broadcast. We decide depending on common sense."

Prosecutors are currently examining the evidence in the Park Shi Hoo case, which involves an accusation of rape from a starlet named only as "A." Park maintains his innocence and says relations with "A" were consensual.

The prosecution of this case has not cancelled the Japanese distribution of Park Shi Hoo's film, "Confession of Murder." The movie will be shown in June in Tokyo. The film's production company said that the release was decided because it has not been proven that Park is guilty. But plans of releasing the film in more theaters are on hold.

When the network statements were released, netizens expressed their frustration with how long it was taking for this case to be resolved. They also said, that even if Park is proven innocent, it will be difficult for him to revive his career. His name will always be associated with this scandal.

"Confession of Murder," which also stars Jeong Jae Yeong, is about a murderer who writes a biography once the statute of limitations has safely passed. The biography makes him a star.

What heart-warming news!

It has been belatedly reported that Super Junior member Siwon’s fancafe donated to UNICEF in honor of his birthday, which was on April 7. The fancafe called, “THESIWONEST,” decided this year to celebrate their favorite singer’s birthday by doing something special. The fancafe collected donations from fans from fourteen countries, which included, among many, Indonesia, Iran, Bolivia, Mexico, and Chile.

This isn’t the first time that “THESIWONEST” donated to a good cause. They quietly gave to the same charity that Siwon personally donated to last year. This year’s project was the first official project for the fancafe, however, in order to increase the scope of their donation.

Siwon and the fancafe’s special relationship with UNICEF started when Siwon was named a UNICEF envoy in July 2010.

Through “THESIWONEST” donation, forty children will be able to receive eighteen sets of school supplies and one manual drinking water pump. These supplies will be delivered to needy locations by UNICEF.

The fancafe personally delivered the plaque they received from UNICEF to Siwon on his birthday. At the thoughtful gift, Siwon exclaimed, “I’m so thankful. I can’t express it in words. You guys worked so hard.”

Andy Lau and Siwon became close while they were filming the 2006 Hong Kong movie “A Battle of Wits” together. The two have maintained their friendship throughout the years and in 2010, Andy Lau invited Siwon to the premier of his movie, “Detective Dee.”

Most recently, Andy Lau sent Siwon his signed CD album, “Unforgettable”, and Siwon uploaded a picture of himself holding it up on his Weibo account, with the caption, “Teacher gave me this for my birthday. Aren’t you jealous?”

Joo Won picked Choi Kang Hee from “7th Grade Civil Servant“ as the best partner he’s had as an actor during his interview with reporters on April 9. He said, “I’ve learned a lot through this drama, but I would say that my biggest achievement is gaining my freedom. And Choi Kang Hee was very influential in doing so.”

Joo Won refers to the ability to use one’s imagination freely under any circumstances as “freedom.” He praised Choi Kang Hee, “Choi Kang Hee has very innocent imagination. For example, whenever we do a romantic scene together, the outcome is usually very pretty. This is all from Choi Kang Hee’s imagination. I learned so much from working with her.”

For the same reason, Joo Won picked Choi Kang Hee as his best partner. He explained, “Of course, I had good chemistry with Eugene, Uee, and Jin Se Yeon. But not as much as I did with Choi Kang Hee. When I was doing ‘King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo,’ I was new to TV drama industry so I didn’t even have time to process anything, and Uee and I were both rookies in ‘Ojakgyo Brothers.’ She and I were busy cheering each other up. In comparison to these dramas, I didn’t really get a chance to interact with Jin Se Yeon much during ‘Bridal Mask.’”

Joo Won: “Choi Kang Hee is the Best Partner I’ve Ever Had”

But with Choi Kang Hee and “7th Grade Civil Servant,” everything was different from his previous roles and experiences. Joo Won said, “I spent a lot of time with Choi Kang Hee because we had a lot of scenes together. So we just practiced our lines together until filming, and this allowed me to just memorize my lines without having to put much effort into it. Towards the end, we had a great partner chemistry and all of the staff recognized it too. I was very satisfied with it.”

However, great chemistry and partnership did not mean that everything was easy and comfortable between the two actors. After the romantic relationship between the main characters fully developed on screen, Joo Won and Choi Kang Hee had many kiss scenes. Joo Won confessed his struggles with these scenes, “At first, I was anticipating it. I was all nervous, ‘I’m finally doing the kiss scene.’ And then there were none of that for a while until the end.

When the time came again, I guess we were both a little tired, so we just went for it. However, I was worried and confused; I couldn’t help it. I didn’t know if I should just put my lips on hers and stay that way or move a little bit. As I was moving my lips, I was wondering if this is respectful to her or not. I even asked her, ‘Should I just stay put and not move?’ and she told me to do whatever I want to do.”

Joo Won picked the film “Only You” as his next step. Kim Ah Joong will be playing his partnering role in the film. He commented, “Every time I get into a new drama or film, I get all these mixed feelings. However, I’m equally nervous and excited about this next step. I will do my best and continue to impress my fans and viewers.”

Actress Lee Young-ae was accused of defamation by a local businessman running a food company, according to local media reports yesterday. The businessman also accused an agency that has a copyright deal with Lee.

The disputes between the businessman and Lee started in 2011 as the food company used a photo of Lee in MBC drama “Dae Jang Geum” for an advertisement.

At the time, Lee said the businessman had never signed a copyright deal on photo use and would consider legal action.

No lawsuit was filed then, but the businessman recently filed a suit against Lee saying that the actress hurt the company’s brand.

Lee’s legal representatives said that the agency had forged Lee’s seal and illegally signed a contract with the food company.

The legal team yesterday said that it will collect necessary evidence and review whether to take legal action against the company or agency.
