[News] Yamada Takayuki to star in TV Tokyo’s new drama in July.

Yamada Takayuki will be starring in the TV Tokyo drama series, “Yuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro” (translation: “Hero Yoshihiko and the Demon King’s Castle”), set to air in July.
In the story, a kind young man sets out on a quest for the medicinal herb that could save his town from an epidemic. In the humorous adventure, the protagonist, played by Yamada, and his unreliable cohorts will battle enemies as they continue with their quest.
Although an adventure drama would seemingly require a lot of money, the drama has been allotted a small budget due to its late night airing time. In order to cut costs, props from a past production will be reused as the protagonist’s sabre weapon. The battle scenes will also use minimal CG and special effects, and the drama will be delivered to audiences “full of a handmade touch”.
Yamada is undeterred by the small budget, remarking, “Making people laugh takes a lot of (energy), but I just want to make people laugh. And I want to laugh too.”
TV Tokyo’s production team also commented, “With his wide acting range, (Yamada) will surely play the serious, clumsy, and loveable hero well.”
“Yuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro” will air on Fridays at midnight.
