"The immigration authorities treated me cordially, but deported me upon arrival for no reason and without providing any justification," the actress said, referring to the June 22 incident.

"I was shocked and terribly saddened by this action," she told The Daily Chilli.

The inside news that she got is that the military-backed Myanmar government was unhappy with her pro-democracy film, The Lady.

Directed by highly-praised French director Luc Besson, The Lady casts the Hollywood star as Myanmar freedom fighter Aung San Suu Kyi who was placed under house arrest for a large part of her life by the former military junta.

The biopic, shot in various parts of Thailand, Myanmar, the United Kingdom and France, is scheduled for international release in October.

But the high-spirited Yeoh displayed a positive attitude despite the deportation.

"I harbour no ill will," she maintained. "I'm always fond of Myanmar and its people.

"I will continue to cherish hopes that this country will continue its progress towards peace and democracy, and that I will be able to return (to Myanmar) soon."
