Korean heist feature "The Thieves" has closed deals with a number of Asian countries during the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival (BIFF), according to the film's promoter 1stLook.

On Monday, 1stLook announced in a press release that "The Thieves" was presold to Dream Movie Entertainment in Singapore and Malaysia, Queen International Pictures in Indonesia and Taiwan's Catchplay during the European Film Festival which took place at the BIFF last month.

The firm stated that they are also in negotiations with other countries regarding the distribution rights for “The Thieves," including China, Japan, North America and Europe.



In the meantime, “The Thieves” will be presented at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) in Hong Kong which will be held for four days starting tomorrow.

"The Thieves," the fourth feature by director Choi Dong-hoon from "The War of Flower" (2006) and "WOOCHI" (2009), tells the story of thieves from Korea and China that team up together to steal a diamond that worth 40 billion won, which is locked in a special room at a casino in Macao.

The pic, featuring a star-studded cast consisted of Kim Yun-seok, Kim Hye-soo, Kim Soo-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun, is slated to open in local theaters during the summer of 2012.
