Bae Yong-joon's 20th year debut "This year he's coming back".

It seems like actor Bae Yong-joon is getting ready to back a come back this year.

Bae is currently looking through various projects to see which one he can return with. Key East, his agency claims, "Before the end of this year, Bae Yong-joon is likely to come back to the public with something".

Bae Yong-joon hasn't been very active since his role in the 2007 MBC drama "The Legend". He also made a short special appearance in the KBS 2TV drama "Dream High" in the year 2011 but it's not enough to say he did something. He's been on a break for six years.

This year is even more special because it's his 20th anniversary in this business. Debuted with the KBS 2TV drama "Love's Greetings", Bae Yong-joon is already a middle aged actor in his 40s.

If Bae Yong-joon moves, the Hallyu power that went over to the music industry should come back to dramas again.

Many producers are trying to create projects that Bae Yong-joon would like".

To mark its 10th anniversary, the drama “Winter Sonata” will hold a fan meet next year in Japan.

The showcase will take place Feb. 8 at Tokyo International Forum Hall, according to the show’s Web site. More than 5,000 fans will be treated to a meet-and-greet event over two sessions.

Program director Yoon Suk-ho, as well as actors Jung Dong-hwan, Song Ok-sook, Ryu Seung-soo and the mother of the late actor Park Yong-ha will take part.

Those who worked on the theme song and the soundtrack will also participate in the fan meet.

It is not known whether leads Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo will make an appearance.

Since 2002, the drama featuring Bae and Choi has come to represent K-dramas worldwide. It was a big hit in Japan, and Japanese tourists still make the pilgrimage to Korea’s Nami Island, where it was shot.

In September, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the KBS program was among those chosen to help foreigners learn Korean on the ministry Web site.

[Article] Bae Yong Joon's Gorilla in the Cafe: Flexing Hawaiian Coffee Muscles in Waikiki.

Waikiki has to be one of the most touristy areas on the planet, with people from across the globe spilling over sidewalks. The Honolulu hotel and shopping district sure has its share of chains, but hidden in plain sight are some focused culinary specialists. On our most recent trip to Hawaii, we were staying at the Waikiki Parc Hotel, and around the corner, a strange sight caught my eye, a flashy green La Marzocco espresso machine. Spotting top-flight coffee equipment signaled serious coffee at VG Gallery Studio Cafe in Taipei, and that same indicator led to some of the best coffee we’ve had in Hawaii, at Gorilla in the Cafe.

Korean actor Bae Yong Joon opened his glass-fronted cafe in July. He also owns a restaurant in Seoul called Gorilla in the Kitchen and respects the animal’s health and strength. The interior features reclaimed wood walls and houses the aforementioned La Marzocco, two Mazzer grinders, a Bonmac pourover coffee bar, and a healthy retail presence. The gorilla also serves shave ice, but we were happy to enjoy that Hawaiian treat elsewhere.

We started with 100% Hawaiian Hand Pourover, roasted by Pahala-based Isla Coffee.

A menu near the register features seven different selections, which might include Maui Red Catuai, Ka’u Washed Typica and Kona Magarogype. It’s not often to see the coffee varietal featured so prominently on a menu. Clearly, the gorilla enjoys educating customers.

A barista named Sam filled me in and prepared my coffee. Maui Mokka Peaberry ($4.66) promised “flavors of lychee, hibiscus, rose, orange and chocolate.” It was bright, and fairly floral, but does anybody ever really sense exactly the same tasting notes as the label dictates?

Honolulu’s Downtown Coffee roasted a four-bean espresso blend, including beans from Big Island, Maui and Oahu. Sam pulled a smooth shot that was satisfyingly bright, without much bitterness.

Of course Gorilla in the Cafe sells bags of coffee to go, in case you want to take the experience elsewhere. Apparently it’s also possible to be a gorilla at home.

He’s a major hallyu star, actor, entrepreneur and CEO, but it seems Bae Yong Jun also holds the title of ‘champion’ for a certain mobile phone game.

During an open talk on October 12 at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) for his prize-winning movie, Pieta, actor Lee Jung Jin was asked by one of the reporters if he also partakes in the currently mega-popular mobile online game, Ani Pang- a puzzle-like online game connected to the smartphone message service, Kakao Talk.

Lee Jung Jin then revealed he didn’t play the game but he was able to see the scores of others. He then shared, “Among my friends, Bae Yong Jun is first. He has a score of over 200,000.”

Netizens commented, “I can’t imagine the Bae Yong Jun playing Ani Pang”, “What an interesting hobby” and “I could have never guessed.”

From next month, foreigners will be able to more easily learn the Korean language through a television lecture program in which scenes from popular TV programs, including "Winter Sonata", will be used as teaching materials, the culture ministry said Monday.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it will develop a new TV language lecture program jointly with national broadcaster KBS, using footage from local TV dramas and music programs highly popular among foreigners as basic materials.

These will include the dramas "Winter Sonata", starring Bae Yong-joon; "Marry Me, Mary!" starring new-generation hallyu star Jang Geun-seok; "Dream High" known for its massive cast of hallyu stars; and the recent hit "My Husband Got a Family" according to the ministry.

Hallyu refers to the rising popularity of Korean pop culture in other Asian nations, the Americas and Europe.

"Music Bank", a KBS music program for introducing new K-pop songs, will also be used in the program.

The Korean-language educational program will be aired on KBS World, the international satellite channel of the KBS with about 48 million subscribers in 73 countries around the world, starting in early October, the ministry said.

It will also be available on the King Sejong Institute's Web site at www.sejonghakdang.org.

Named after the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) king who invented the hangeul script, King Sejong Institutes offer language education programs teaching Korean as a second language. Currently, there are 76 such institutes throughout the world. (Yonhap)

As well as the scheduled programs, interviews with Korean stars will also aid the learning process through KBS World in October.

The learning material will also be made available on the Web site www.sejonghakdang.org from October.

“The lectures will be easy to follow, and next year, we’ll include even more programs,” said a spokesperson from the ministry.

[News] Jang Keun Suk: “Press Conference Delays Have Nothing To Do With Anti-Hallyu”.

[News] Jang Keun Suk: “Press Conference Delays Have Nothing To Do With Anti-Hallyu”.
Cr. - soompi

Actor Jang Keun Suk has revealed that the recent press conference has been delayed due to logistics, not because of the anti-hally movement.

A representative from Jang Keun Suk’s management, Tree-J Entertainment, told OSEN, “The Sumitomo Mitsui Card press conference has been postponed in order to make solid preparations.” And further stated, “This delay is not the result of the anit-hally movement.”

The official continued, “Jang Keun Suk has experienced similar changes in the past where scheduled events become delayed or even cancelled. This really isn’t a big deal.”

The reporters have jumped to conclusions thinking that the cancellation of the press conference on August 22 was due to the anti-hallyu movement because of the coincidence.

President Lee Myung Bak’s recent visit to Dokdo has strained the relationship between Korea and Japan. Even Hallyu stars like Bae Young Jun and Girls Generation aren’t being treated favorably from the Japanese media and it’s making Korean entertainment industry insiders nervous.

Actor Bae Yong-joon of agency Keyeast Entertainment is set to take his business to China.

The agency announced on Monday that it has signed a contract with a Hallyu content management company called Star Lake Agency as part of efforts to extend its reach in Asia.

“Through the mutual contract, stars belonging to Keyeast will be able to take on roles in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan,” a spokesperson from Keyeast said.

Some of the agency’s stars include Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Hyun-joong and Lim Soo-jung.

Star Lake Agency had previously distributed Bae’s photo essay on Korean tourist destinations in China.

Kim Soo-hyun will also take an active role in promoting himself in Japan. Amid speculation by entertainment insiders as to whether Kim’s fame in Korea will catch on in Japan, Keyeast said it is confident that Kim will appeal to the Japanese public.

“He has a unique style that sets him apart from all the other Hallyu stars who are popular in Japan,” the agency said.

Key East Entertainment’s new girl group, more commonly known as “Bae Yong Joon’s girl group,” for the Hallyu star’s ownership of the agency, will postpone its official debut.

According to multiple reports on May 10, Key East decided to push back the debut of their new girl group to the second half of this year. “We decided to postpone their debut in order to come out with a more perfect style.

Aside from Kwon Ri Sae, we’re also training Kim Bo Reum, who appeared on ‘Dream High 2.’ It’s expected to be comprised of five to six total members.” It added, “We will only debut the group after training for perfection.

But the exact debut schedule has not been decided yet.” This group made headlines last year for including Kwon Ri Sae, one of the finalists of MBC “Star Audition,” and for the full support of Key East’s largest shareholder, Bae Yong Joon. Stay tuned for more news!
