On January 4th, a press conference for upcoming drama “The Brothers Karamazov” was held at TMC studio, and cast members Ichihara Hayato, Saito Takumi, Hayashi Kento and Yoshida Kotaro made their appearances.
As reported previously, this is a drama adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novel with the setting in Japan. It tells a story about three brothers who become the prime suspects in their father’s murder case.
In the drama, Ichihara will play the second oldest son named Kurosawa Isao, the young nihilistic lawyer, which is completely opposite from his usual hot-blooded roles such as the one in ‘ROOKIES‘ series. “I’ve never felt this tense at the filming. It’s a great honor to be able to participate in this. When I attend the filming as ‘Kurosawa Isao’, I feel so calm, and start seeing everything around me clearly. The more I’m into the role, the more I feel like I can see the desire and madness in this world which is scary, but that’s the kind of person ‘Isao’ is. Including the feeling of madness, I am enjoying acting as ‘Isao’.” Ichihara said.
Saito, on the other hand, will play the oldest son named “Kurosawa Mitsuru” who is a romanticist and very sensible playboy. Regarding the drama, Saito said, “I was simply excited to do a modern-day adaptation of Dostoyevsky’s work. The time slot for this drama is where we can be venturous in a good way, so it feels like we, the cast members and staff members, are facing a powerful enemy while seeking something carefully.”
Yoshida, who will be the father of the brothers, “Kurosawa Bunzo”, commented jokingly, “I am acting for my role’s ‘loving alcohol’ and ‘loving girls’ parts according to my true character.” He then continued, “It is unreasonable that I am the father of these three beautiful guys, but acting with these guys brings a lot of fun times, so I am expecting that the drama will be something great.”
Upcoming drama “The Brothers Karamazov” will begin airing on January 12th at 11:10
