[News] Kim Jun to enter military this year.
Cr. - 10asia
Singer-actor Kim Jun will enter the military during the latter half of this year, according to his agency Planet 905 on Monday.
The news came through a message Planet 905 posted on the official website of Kim's boy band T-MAX, saying they are making the announcement "after worrying and more worrying on how to deliver word on the series of recent changes within T-MAX."
This referred not only to Kim's joining the military which is a two-year duty required of all Korean men, but also to T-MAX having to cancel their upcoming activities in Japan.
T-MAX had signed with an agency in Japan through which they were planning to make a debut in the country in late June, as well as having agreed to take part in UN-hosted charity concert “Friend’s Whistle! Act For Tomorrow! Vol. 2" set for July 18 in Tokyo.
However, they were notified this weekend that they cannot participate in the UN event if they cannot commit to it till the end of the year, Planet 905 said in the statement.
"We are sorry again and again for making the announcement so abruptly but we felt that you wouldn't be able to understand why they had to suddenly cancel their appearance in the concert," Planet 905 explained.
In the meantime, Kim wrote on his Twitter account that the date for his military entrance has yet to be set.
Kim, 27, made his debut as the rapper of his four-member K-pop group T-MAX in 2007 which is best known for their song “Paradise", the soundtrack for hit TV series “Boys Over Flowers.”
Kim also rose to stardom after playing one of the F4 characters in the smash-hit series in 2009 alongside Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong and Kim Bum.
