▶#1 Female Hairstyle – Gong Hyo Jin’s ‘Short Balloon Perm’

The female hairstyle that netizens selected as the best for 2011 was none other than Gong Hyo Jin‘s ‘Short Balloon Perm’. This was the hairstyle that helped highlight her natural acting abilities in ‘The Greatest Love‘, and her short, split bang hairstyle with soft waves helped bring out her character’s personality. Gong Hyo Jin earned 41% of the total votes.

Behind her was actress Soo Ae who came in at 2nd place with 33% of the votes. Soo Ae rocked a soft, and wavy hairstyle that brought out her feminine charm for her recent drama, ‘Thousand Days Promise’. The braid hairstyle that was popular among celebrities like Kim Tae Hee in ‘My Princess‘ and the members of Girls’ Generation, came in at #3, while Brown Eyed Girls member Ga-in‘s ‘Unbalanced Short Cut’ hairstyle for ‘All My Love‘ came in at 4th place.

▶Male and Female voters voted for different hairstyles.

As a whole, both male and female netizens picked Hyun Bin’s hairstyle as the #1 hairstyle of 2011, however, the men chose Won Bin’s ‘Skinhead’ hairstyle as the second best, while the ladies chose Cha Seung Won’s ‘Two Block Wave’.

And in the case of 2011′s Best Female Hairstyle, the males picked the feminine and elegant hairstyle of Soo Ae as #1 (44%), while female netizens preferred Gong Hyo Jin’s bubbly and casual hairstyle.

Unix Electronics who conducted the survey remarked, “The Two-Block cut and the Unbalanced cut that was popular with the guys, and the Balloon Perm that was a hit with the ladies are all hairstyles that are extremely versatile. The more the public becomes interested in self-styling, the more they like seeing hairstyles that they can easily emulate.”

[VOD & News] What Happened at the SBS Gayo Daejun that Made Super Junior Apologize to ELF?

[VOD & News] What Happened at the SBS Gayo Daejun that Made Super Junior Apologize to ELF?
Cr. - soompi

Super Junior's members expressed their frustration and disappointment on their personal Twitter accounts about the incident that made them pre-record twice for the SBS Gayo Daejun.

The incident stems from SM Entertainment's failure to properly inform Super Junior's fanclub ELF, of the time of their pre-recording, which caused Super Junior to perform without any single fan-chant during their turn on stage. As there wasn't support shown to the boys, they asked the other fan clubs present to please support them a bit. This caused the members to be totally upset and disappointed, leaving the first pre-recording by just saying goodbye.

After ELF found out that Super Junior had already recorded without them, ELF instantly took to SM Entertainment and demanded some answers from the management agency. This caused things to tense up a little bit between ELF and SM. SM then arranged for Super Junior to record their performance again, this time with ELF present.

Super Junior members then started tweeting, apologizing to their fanclub and showing disapproval of what happened. Lee Teuk expressed: "Truthfully this doesn't make sense..Shouldn't they upload notices beforehand? I apologize for them." Donghae wrote, "I'm sorry ELF" and Eunhyuk tweeted, "Year-end has no meaning if it isn't for ELF...so annoying!!!!!!! *Eat food, eat it twice*."

Leader Lee Teuk replied to him saying: "Eat three times haha." Siwon also replied to Eunhyuk's tweet saying, "Keep eating" and they started retweeting each other's tweets.

Afterwards, Siwon wrote another tweet saying, "Any way.. you look at it, there isn't a group more hard-working than us, and there can't be a group more pitiful than us..damn it!" and "If we've done anything wrong, it must be the crime of working too hard, don't you agree everyone? well just forget it.. what a long day.."

Fans who were following the conversation actually got a shock but could understand their frustration. Siwon, known for being even-tempered and of amiable personality, surprised everyone when he showed his dissatisfaction.

ELF showed their support by tweeting them back. The posts all contained messages of encouragement, saying that Super Junior do not owe them an apology and that they are not pitiful. 2PM's Nichkhun also showed his support on Twitter, posting a message to Siwon asking him to relax and that they should go out sometime.

This incident has heated matters between SM and Super Junior's fanclub. Fans say the misinformation is "unfair treatment" and that it has to end soon. What is your opinion on the matter?

Check out Super Junior's performance and let me know what you think down below!

Jang Keun Suk recently made headlines for donating $1.2 million USD to his university, Hanyang University. Earlier this month, he’s been revealed to have donated yet another $30,000 USD.

The $30,000 was split three times, with $10,000 USD being given to a different organization, such as one for an orphanage in Kangnam and the other for a briquette delivering organization sponsored by NGO.

The orphanage in Kangnam was actually in dire need of the support, as not only is it the only orphanage in Kangnam, but is also poorly faciliated. Up until October, they had used a gas boiler to heat the building before organizations chipped in to reconstruct the place. Unfortunately, funds weren’t enough to complete the project.

Upon hearing their case, Jang Keun Suk covered the remaining fees and helped the orphanage complete the construction, allowing the kids to spend a healthy, warm winter.

On December 28th, his agency expressed, “After hearing about the orphanage, Jang Keun Suk-ssi worried a lot about the safety of the children. He wanted to help in any of the little ways he could and delivered the donation to them. He’s glad that they’re all warm and safe and is actually thankful to them.”

Two nights ago on Christmas, Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) and director Doze Niu Chen-Zer attended a Taiwan promotion for their February film release LOVE.

How did Siu Tin spend Christmas? He said that this year was the coldest Christmas. He knew Taipei's restaurants and cinemas would have many people, so he went to Northeast Coast where it was truly super cold. What did he give his girlfriend Tiffany Hsu? Siu Tin said, "We kept each other company, giving her a complete companion was already the best gift."

Earlier reportedly Siu Tin applied to military service exemption because he was flat footed. Siu Tain said that it was not like he could apply just because he wanted to, the departments had to make a decision.

Director Doze also clarified for Siu Tin and said that Siu Tin has always looked forward to his military service. Over the years Siu Tin always said that military service should not be avoided. To him military service was a great life experience. Director Doze continued that sometimes Siu Tin's friends would use some great opportunities to tempt him into keep delaying his military service. Actually now Siu Tin might report at any moment.

Director Doze hoped Siu Tin would be able to promote LOVE with him before the miltiary service, but Siu Tin was not in charge of the decision. He himself did not want to postpone it anymore as he wanted to face this matter as soon as possible. Siu Tin also reiterated that at work for now he did not have much planned. Before his military service he would promote LOVE and hoped to reach as many places as he could.

[Photo & News] Will it be hard for Sin Ha-gyun to take the Grand Prize?

[Photo & News] Will it be hard for Sin Ha-gyun to take the Grand Prize?
Cr. - hancinema

Let's look back at the KBS Grand Prizes years past. There have been no cases where a leading character from a drama with less than a 20% rating took the honor. But this man, he's aiming for the best with not looks and connections but only talent. This man is Sin Ha-gyun from KBS2 "Brain".

Let's say honestly, "Brain" isn't one of the highest rated dramas. It's been rising slowly after the end of "A Thousand Days' Promise" but it topped out at 15.5% on the December 6th.

You can't say that's a bad, but it's no where near enough to make a Grand Prize winner. This is being said looking back on the past ten years worth of KBS Grand Prizes.

"The Slave Hunters" in 2010 gave Jang Hyuk the grand prize with a percentage of 35%, "IRIS" in 2009 gave Lee Byeong-Heon the grand prize with a percentage of close to 40%. "Mom's Dead Upset" in 2008 also went over 30%. Others like Choi Soo-jong, Han Ji-won, Kim Myung-min also had honors similar to these.

In a country where dramas are evaluated by the standard of viewing percentage, a low one is fatal. Therefore, looking just at the viewing rate, the reality is that "Brain" is nowhere close to being a candidate for the grand prize.

However, Sin Ha-gyoon is different. This can be seen in the Grand Prize rumor that has been spreading like fire. He's being chosen as a likely candidate along with Park Si-hoo from "The Princess' Man"and Lee Tae-gon from "Gwanggaeto the Great". This breaks the trend of looking only at the percentage. The answer lies in acting skills.

Sin Ha-gyun's existence in "Brain" is extreme. He has to pull of technical terms because he's playing the role of a doctor and thanks to the talented writers, the plotines make it hard for him to keep his emotions under control, but he is making viewers fall in love with the Lee Kang-hoon character and the drama "Brain".

His crying act and the emotional scenes that aren't too much or too little is just enough to be called the best. He's worthy of being called the 'God Ha-gyun'.

Of course, it's hard to decide where the Grand Prize will land. Sin Ha-gyun's competitor Park Si-hoo was in a drama that recorded more than 20% and was exported into over ten countries. Also, advertising revenue went beyond KRW14.5 billion during the show. Lee Tae-gon from the drama "Gwanggaetto the Great", which is currently beyond its 100th episode, is also someone we can't ignore.

However, the basis of the Grand Prize is acting. Therefore it would mean a lot for Sin Ha-gyun to get the prize that is considered the most prestigious out of the three broadcasting companies' awards shows.

Just earlier, it was reported that rumors about Jun Ji Hyun dating the grandson of designer Lee Young Hee had been circulating.

They continued, “We ask that you refrain from releasing exaggerated or distorted stories regarding her significant other, as he is not a celebrity. Please support their relationship.”

Representatives of Lee Young Hee added, “Jun Ji Hyun and Choi have known each other since they were little and remained friends since then. It is true that they are now dating.”

Netizens were also interested in the brother of ‘Choi’ who was reported to have been an idol. After some digging, they have uncovered that the brother was a member of ‘X-Large’, a 5-member group that debuted in 2001 and disbanded in 2002.

[News] Most Disliked Tvb Series Of 2011; “My Sister Of Eternal Flower” Tops List.

[News] Most Disliked Tvb Series Of 2011; “My Sister Of Eternal Flower” Tops List.
Cr. - http://www.jaynestars.com

TVB aired 25 different series in 2011. At the end of each year, in addition to the TVB Anniversary Awards selecting the best series, netizens often run their own alternative elections and vote for the “Most Disliked Series of the Year.” The top three series in this category in 2011 were My Sister of Eternal Flower <花花世界花家姐>, When Heaven Burns <天與地>, and Men With No Shadows <不速之約>.

Charmaine Sheh and Raymond Lam in Two of Three Most Disliked Series

Over 200 people took part in the voting, with each person placing a maximum of three votes. My Sister of Eternal Flower received 87 votes, thus winning the “Most Disliked Series” title. In second place was When Heaven Burns with 81 votes, and in third place was Men With No Shadows with 78 votes. In fourth place was Only You with 50 votes, and in fifth place were Super Snoops <荃加福祿壽探案> and Curse of the Royal Harem <萬凰之王> tied at 46 votes. Among the “worst” series, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) appeared in When Heaven Burns and My Sister of Eternal Flower, while Raymond Lam (林峯) appeared in Men With No Shadows and My Sister of Eternal Flower.

Some netizens described My Sister of Eternal Flower and Men With No Shadows featuring a “team that will not lose.” In fact, Charmaine Sheh was harmed by My Sister of Eternal Flower. The broadcast before and after this series was the difference between “heaven and earth.” Prior to the broadcast of My Sister of Eternal Flower, her role as a mentally challenged individual was regarded as an acting challenges. Partnering with Raymond Lam, the series was considered to be the most anticipated series in 2011. After the broadcast, the audience felt resistant towards the story’s mentally challenged individuals. Charmaine’s role was not well-received and was subject to criticism. The average rating of the series was only 25 points.

Appearing as a “devil” character and a hypnotist in Men With No Shadows, Raymond Lam was described as “schizophrenic Chok King” by netizens. However, the ratings were not bad, averaging 27 points for the entire series while the two-hour finale averaged 32 points in ratings.

When Heaven Burns was considered to be “beyond the understanding of Hong Kong housewives.” The series was also criticized to take half an hour of material and stretching it into one hour of film format. Although When Heaven Burns secured the second spot as the “Most Disliked Series of 2011,” many netizens also supported the controversial series and defended it, “Disliking the series does not mean the series was garbage. It only means some people did not understand it.”

Attentive netizens revealed that Charmaine’s When Heaven Burns was not the lowest rated series in recent TVB history, noting that 2005’s Always Ready <隨時候命> featuring Charamine, Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健), and Bowie Lam (林保怡) only averaged 23 points in ratings. Aside from the coincidence of collaborating with Bowie Lam, both When Heaven Burns and Always Ready were broadcast on November 21st, unable to escape from the fate of low ratings.

Editor's NOTE: The numbers look kind of off....according to the information I found, the results were as follows (listed Top 10 only):

1) Colorful World of Sister Fa -- 102 votes
2) When Heaven Burns -- 86 votes
3) Men With No Shadows -- 85 votes
4) Curse of the Royal Harem -- 62 votes
5) Only You - 60 votes
6) Super Snoops - 59 votes
7) The Other Truth -- 38 votes
8) The Rippling Blossom -- 14 votes
9) Grace Under Fire - 13 votes
10) River of Wine -- 12 votes

[News] Jay Chou Sued For Unpaid Royalties.

[News] Jay Chou Sued For Unpaid Royalties.
Cr. - http://asianfanatics.net/

The singer is being sued for owing royalties, but the case was dismissed due to a lack of proof.

A woman from China sued Taiwanese singer Jay Chou -- who had released three books throughout his showbiz career -- for owing her royalties.

The woman, surnamed Wang, claimed that she co-wrote a book with Jay, but was unable to reach the singer after the book was completed and did not receive the royalties that she deserved.

In her compensation request, Wang wanted the singer to provide receipts and bank statements, so as to make sure that the amount she received was correct.

Responding to the report, Jay, who is currently in America, said through his record label, that he had only released three books -- including Iron Box of an Island in 2001, Grandeur de D Major in 2005, and 2011's Music = Footage ≠Music.

Of the three, he had only collaborated on one, Iron Box of an Island which is a pictorial and video book, with good friend Vincent Fang. The singer had not worked with anyone else.

The court also ruled that the evidence presented by Wang was insufficient. Wang also did not pay the NT$17,335 (S$745) referee fees.

The Straits Exchange Foundation -- a semi-official organisation set up by the Taiwanese government to handle technical or business matters with China -- issued a notice to Wang to pay the fee and to provide additional proof of her claim.

However, as the woman did not respond to the notice, the court overruled her request for a trial.

[Interview] Jang Keun Suk in 'ELLE Japon' Febuary 2012.
Cr. - tenshi_akuma

In his latest movie Jang Keun Suk became a pet of a female senior. Jang Keun Suk, he is the very person who has captivated Japanese women’s hearts. He broke through as a star after broadcasting TV drama ‘You Are Beautiful’ and since then he has succeeded in his career as a singer as well as an actor. In fact, he just finished his first performance at Tokyo Dome in November successfully. In his latest movie ‘You’re My Pet (YMP)’ based on Japanese comic, JKS played Kang In Ho, a pet as well as a young prospective dancer, living under the same roof with a career woman, Ji Eun who is not good at love.

Jang Keun Suk came in for ELLE interview with smile which brings out our motherly instincts. The way he spoke Japanese fluently represented his cuteness, and we were sometimes confused if he was In Ho or Jang Keun Suk.

“The role of In Ho is full of JKS. Lol. He is the most similar character to me in all characters I’ve played… no, strictly speaking, In Ho may be completely myself. So that I requested the director to act freely and he approvingly adopted my improvisation,” JKS said. While talking, Jang Keun Suk looked much cuter than his age. He was like a real puppy when he had played in 'You're my pet' scenes such as he was shivering because of rain and he whined in front of Ji Eun. Besides. JKS himself was a surprisingly open person.

“On the other hand, I also have a sadistic side. Lol. Every human has different colors of personality. I have black side as well as red or white ones. So does In Ho. He hasn’t been only her pet throughout YMP. He has a manly side. The big difference between the original 'You're my pet' and this movie was our relationship between master and pet. The master halfway came to wait for her pet. In Ho is a man who makes as much efforts as he can to pursue his dream, job and goal.”

What do you think about the love which has been started as the relation between a master and her pet?

“In Korea there are few couples who live under the same roof before their marriage, so it is unlikely to happen to me. However, it may happen if I love her from the beginning…?” This is where he began to use expression ‘to love someone’ many times. That means we glimpsed his manly side. “I believe what the most important thing in life is ‘sincerity’. So I don’t care how old she is when I love her, rather care about her personality more than her age.”

Besides, he added his comment about how he feels about senior women. “As for me, mature women are those who enjoy both jobs and love, and have a lot of experience. They seem to protect junior men like YMP. But I am the man who wants to take initiative about love. As I am a man, I protect my loved one!” He didn’t hesitate to declare that. We wish Japanese ‘herbivorous’ men would follow his manly attitude.

He was very surprised to hear that there are many people who don’t or can’t love someone in Japan. “Why can’t they love? As for me, ‘to love someone’ is the most important thing. It reminds me when I heard that there are many Japanese couples who don’t say ‘I love you’ to each other. I wonder why they don’t say so because I believe couples get married because they love each other. My parents say to each other, ‘I love you’ almost everyday. I’ve found the way they express their love to the other beautiful since my childhood. So I will say to my loved one, ‘I love you’ everyday. Definitely!”

My dream will never finish. I will continue to set a new dream.

After his exclusive interview, we invited Kim Ha-neul to our interview. JKS said to us mischievously, “She taught me how passionate we should kiss.” As soon as she heard his words, she replied, “Don’t play with me. I just accepted your way.” We all laughed out loud at their dialogue. Their relationship looked really like one in YMP!

And we glimpsed the moment when JKS changed into a pet with his arm around her waist. In this way he transforms himself into boyish sex or male sex freely. He must have an excellent command of such transformation though we don’t know if he realized this power. He smiles as if he were an innocent child. On the other hand, he also shows us his coolest eyes as an adult. And we are captivated by him easily. We realize that this is his charm and secret of his popularity.

Kim Ha-neul describes JKS as follows. “He is more energetic than all other Korean actors. So just being with him makes me cheer-up and I feel I can perform better than usual. Even if his schedule is packed, he always enjoys acting. This is also one of his strong points.”

In fact, this interview was held just after he had finished his performance at Tokyo Dome and returned to Korea. In spite of his tight schedule, he attended a university before our interview. By next year he will have worked in showbiz for twenty years. He’s broken through as a star, but he doesn’t change himself at all. And his dreams continue without end. “I can’t still believe that my dream from a child to perform at Tokyo Dome came true. But now I am thinking to set a next dream. I hope that I can translate it into reality in the near future. I will continuously set and tackle my dreams.” JKS will proceed to the new dream with rush of hope and shining eyes. What kind of the new world will he show us next if we follow him? We must see a world beyond our imaginings.

The asymmetrical dandy haircut adopted by Hyun Bin amassed 50 percent of the votes in the men’s category and was thought to be perfectly in line for the cold and cynical character from a rich family that the actor played.
Second on the list of men’s hairdos was actor Cha Seung-won’s “two block wave” cut as seen on the drama “The Greatest Love.”
Third was the shaved-head look as worn by Wonbin in last year’s thriller movie “The Man From Nowhere.”

In the women’s category, coming in at second place after Gong’s 41 percent, was the natural “long wave” worn by actress Soo-ae. Third spot went to the braided look as seen from various female entertainers such as Girls’ Generation and Kim Tae-hee. In the combined genre where netizens could vote for either male or female hair-dos they liked, Hyun Bin again topped the list for both sexes. Meanwhile there were some differences for second place as female voters preferred Cha’s wave cut while male voters liked Wonbin’s masculine shaved-head look.

Park Min Young is gracing the pages of the January issue of fashion magazine, Singles.

The popular actress, who is known for her role as the female lead in "City Hunter," elegantly posed in a chic yet simple black dress which revealed her bare back and contrasted with her milky skin.

The pictorial gives off a retro feel as if Park Min Young came out of a black and white movie. The star actress has opted for the infamous "Over the Shoulder" pose which gave off a radiant "On the Red Carpet" atmosphere.

In the second picture, she is seen nonchalantly lying on a sofa, as if she wasn't really posing. Her pose and her shorts reveal her long and slender legs. She is seductively staring at the object with an intense look and smoky eye makeup, which adds to the dramatic effect.

She kind of reminded me of Audrey Hepburn's almost natural elegance.

By sticking to the classics, the star of "City Hunter" radiates confidence and elegance with a chic and classy look. What do you think of this photoshoot? Hit or miss?
