The first filming of Kim Hyun Joong’s upcoming drama “City Conquest” took place on July 10 in Japan. Kim Hyun Joong, who plays the lead role Baek Mir, showed up in much slimmer shape, apparently having shed over 7% body fat for the shooting.

In the still cuts released on July 16, Kim Hyun Joong does seem to have dropped some weight, looking to be in even better shape than his previous “Lucky Guy” promotions. According to local reports, Kim Hyun Joong followed a strict diet and substantially increased his body muscle to play the lead role featuring a lot of action scenes.

“City Conquest” is the drama adaptation of the popular 90s comic book series, which published over 6 seasons and sold over 10 million copies. The filming will take place in Japan, China, the U.S., Singapore, and Switzerland, with the first episode expected to air at the end of the year.

On July 10, Tree J Company, Jang’s agency, reported that Jang was warmly received by people in Paris on July 9.

Jang’s visit to Paris was not an official one. However, his fans came to the airport to see Jang after hearing the news that Jang was going to come to Paris.

The fans swarmed over to Charles de Gaulle Airport were mostly European fans. They shouted “Jang Keun Suk” and “I love you” in clumsy Korean.

Because there were too many fans, Jang had a hard time getting out of the airport.

Actor Jang Keun Suk is publishing the season 2/02 of his personal magazine CRI-J in Japan on July 10.

CRI-J is a specialized magazine for Jang, which is published four times a year in Japan. It was published in April, July, and October last year and January this year.

The season one of the magazine was really popular in Japan that its sales volume was incomparable to that of any Hallyu actors’ personal magazines, which was over 24,000 copies.

As many people requested for the second season, Jang decided to publish the season two of CRI-J.

Unlike the season one, which shows the 25-year-old man Jang, the season 2/01 published in April shows all about Jang’s daily life in detail, reinterpreting his powerful, passionate looks in ten different colors.

So Ji Sub’s “Ghost” is catching up with Joo Won’s “Bridal Mask.” According to AGB Nielsen, “Ghost” recorded 13.8%, a 2.4% increase from the night before. “Bridal Mask,” which has been holding on the lead since its premiere, saw a slight dip, recording 14.0%.

As of last night, the difference between the two dramas is only 0.2%, which has led people to predict that “Ghost” will finally overtake “Bridal Mask” next week. Meanwhile, Kim Sun Ah’s “I Do I Do” is still behind the two with single digit ratings, recording 9.1%.

“Bridal Mask” is a period piece, set in the 1930s when Korea was annexed by Japan. The story is about a man named Lee Kang To (Joo Won), an ordinary man by day and a masked avenger by night. He wears a traditional Korean bridal mask as he fights for Korea’s independence. Initially, he was a pro-Japanese police officer who later inherited the role as the masked freedom fighter following his brother’s death.



“Ghost” is a suspense drama that warns about the unexpected dangers that comes with the digital age. It focuses on the lives of Kim Woo Hyun (So Ji Sub) and Yoo Gang Mi (Lee Yeon Hee) members of a cyber investigation squad, cracking down on murder cases disguised as works by others through computers.

“I Do I Do” is a romantic comedy about Hwang Ji Ahn (Kim Sun Ah), a successful thirty-something-year-old, single, career woman who is the best designer at a footwear company. She has the complete package of brains, beauty, and talent. While she has no desires to marry or to have a family of her own, she faces a cruel ultimatum for any woman – menopause. Through coincidence she meets a handsome, young man named Park Tae Kang (Lee Jang Woo), whom she spends the night with.

Unfortunately for her, Park Tae Kang is a walking disaster who does what she hates most in the world – ripping off designer shoes and selling imitations. Korean actress Jung Ryu-won will pursue her future activities under the management Korea's talent agency, KEYEAST.

KEYEAST, which outlines the career paths of Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon and Kim Hyun-joong, said in a press release Tuesday that Jung has signed an exclusive contract with the firm

"I still have a long way to grow as an actress and I know that [under the management of KEYEAST] I can do that with every role I play in future projects," Jung said in the statement.

KEYEAST C.E.O Yang Keun-hwan explained that Jung has shown many outstanding qualities of herself as an actress through her past works and the firm will support her in all her forthcoming endeavors.

KEYEAST is one of a handful of firms that have built experiences in helping top actors' activities abroad, which is evident through Bae and Kim's popularity in the region.

The firm also has Kim Soo-hyun, Lim Soo-jung, Ju Ji-hoon and Choi Kang-hee in the lineup.

Jung made her debut as a member of girl group Chakra in 2000 and left the group in 2004 to pursue her acting career.

CNBLUE's frontman Jung Yong-hwa will be making a guest appearance in SBS' weekend TV series, "Gentleman's Dignity."

In Wednesday's press release, FNC Entertainment officials let slip that Jung will play Kim Ha-neul's former student in the 13th episode of "Gentleman's Dignity," scheduled to air this Saturday.

The firm explained that Jung, along with Kim and actor Jang Dong-gun, shot the scene at an Italian restaurant in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, on Tuesday.

"It's such an honor to be asked to appear in such a great TV series. I was also star-struck to shoot the scene with senior actors whom I respect a lot," Jung was quoted as saying.

The popular 20-part series surrounds the story of four middle-aged men who go through love, breakup, success and failure.



The drama is currently earning high ratings, and has climbed up two spots on the weekend primetime ratings chart last week to grab the second spot, after the chart-topper, "My Husband Got a Family."

The show co-stars Kim Suro, Kim Won-bin, Kim Jung-nam and CNBLUE's Lee Jong-hyun.

The drama “Golden Time” is set in a surgical ward at a hospital. The two main characters are played by Lee Sun Kyun and Hwang Jung Eum. Lee Sun Kyun plays a top-notch surgeon with a cold demeanor who is very outspoken. While, Hwang Jung Eum plays a girl whose family owns the hospital but she decides to become a med student inter.

Ilgan Sports reported on July 1 that actress Lee Si-yeong, 30, also dubbed "Boxing Queen", will compete in a boxing competition starting July 6.

According to the sports daily, Lee will enter the women's 48-kilogram weight segment at the Seoul Boxing Competition, which will run from July 6 to 8 at the Korea National Sport University.

First schedule, Japanese Fan Meeting

Actor Kim Nam-gil who finishes his National Service duty on the 14th, starts the engine to Hallyu. He has been getting various love calls from movies and dramas as well as other entertainment programs.
