This scene is so touching. Suffering from cancer since April this year, the patient happened to the the mother of the President of BYJ's Taiwan fan club. Despite his tight schedule and the fear of uncontrolled crowd of fans going to the hospital, BYJ insist that he must visit this patient, whom last year drove her daughter (President of Taiwan Fan club) around to 'chase BYJ' around when he came to Taiwan. Visiting hours was between 1100hrs to 1140hrs. To prevent disturbance to other patients due to his presence, he decided to go around 1040hrs to visit them. Despite the early schedule, many reporters and fans who have gotten the news, also went there to have a glimpse of him.

Together with the managers and bodyguards of BYJ, reporters were not allowed to enter the patient's room for fear of disturbing her. BYJ had to wear the blue robe before seeing the patient. In the room, it was reported that the patient cried upon seeing him, so did BYJ as his eyes were redden when he left the room. BYJ's grandma passed away last year due to illness, thus probably lead him to tear up.

"배용준, 팬 위해 눈물 흘리다"…대만 '감동'

영화 '외출' 홍보를 위해 대만을 방문 중인 초특급 한류 스타 배용준이 폐암 말기의 팬을 찾아가 눈물을 흘리며 쾌유를 빌었다.

대만 언론들은 21일 배용준이 전날 대만 팬클럽 회장 랴오민쥔(廖敏君)의 어머니이자 역시 그의 팬인 젠메이주(簡美珠) 여사가 입원한 타이베이 완팡(萬芳)병원을찾았다가 눈물을 흘린 이야기를 '배용준 암환자 팬 병문안에서 눈물' 등의 제목으로대서 특필했다.

작년 3월 배용준의 대만 방문 때만해도 두딸과 함께 공항ㆍ호텔 등 배용준이 가는 곳이라면 어디든지 따라 나섰던 젠 여사는 폐암 진단을 받고 지난 4월부터 중환자실에 입원했다.

입원 후 젠 여사의 유일한 낙은 배용준의 사진을 보는 것과 문병온 팬클럽 회원들과 함께 배용준 스토리로 화제의 꽃을 피우는 것이었으나 최근 병세가 악화돼 산소 마스크에 의존해 지내느라 말하는 것조차 어려워졌다.

배용준의 병문안을 지켜본 완팡 병원 관계자는 "젠 여사는 산소 마스크를 쓰고있어 말을 할 수 없었지만 감격의 눈물을 흘렸다"면서 "배용준도 함께 눈물을 흘리며 젠 여사의 눈물을 닦아주고 손을 잡아주며 빠른 쾌유를 빌었다"고 전했다.

젠 여사의 주치의 저우즈밍 의사는 "암 환자에게 가장 필요한 것은 심적 지지"라면서 "배용준이 바쁜 와중에도 이렇게 병상에 있는 팬을 보러 오다니 환자에게 가장 큰 격려가 됐고 너무 감동했다"고 말했다.

배용준을 쫓아 병원까지 따라간 일부 팬, 병원 관계자들 모두 한결같이 "배용준은 너무 좋은 사람"이라며 눈시울을 붉혔다.

배용준은 당초 젠 여사의 병문안 후 기자들의 질문에 대해 마음이 편치 않다며대답을 일절 거부했으나, 이날 저녁 대만 유선 ETTV와의 단독 인터뷰에서 이에 관한질문을 받자 "나의 어머니와도 같은 분"이라며 빠른 쾌유를 기원했다.

대만 언론들과 누리꾼들은 배용준의 따뜻한 마음씨에 대체로 찬사를 보냈으나배용준 자신은 비밀리에 병문안가려던 것이 공개된 것에 대해 언짢아 한 것으로 알려졌으며, 그의 방문을 이용해 '배용준 완팡 병원에 사랑을 보내다'는 내용의 포스터를 제작한 병원측의 약삭빠른 상혼이 씁쓸한 뒷맛을 남겼다.

한편 배용준은 21일 오전 대만대 종합체육관에서 2천명의 팬들과 만남을 가졌으며 팬들이 그를 위해 깜짝 생일파티를 준비한 것을 알고 "이 순간을 잊을 수 없을것"이라며 중국어로 화답했다.

배용준은 대만, 일본, 홍콩, 싱가포르, 태국 등지에서 모인 팬들이 한국어로 '가지마'라며 아쉬움을 표하자 역시 중국어로 "또 오겠다"면서 2박3일간의 대만 방문일정을 마쳤다.

South Korean star Bae arrives for 3-day visit

Bae Yong-joon, a South Korean star hugely popular in Taiwan, arrived yesterday on a three-day visit to promote his new movie “April Snow.” Bae, whose Korean soap opera, “Winter Sonata,” made a big hit in Taiwan, was mobbed by scores of fans at the Chiang Kai-shek International Airport upon his arrival.

He was protected by 72 bodyguards, organizers of his visit said.

He later held a press conference in Taipei, during which Bae, wearing his trademark smile, showed great patience answering questions and posing pictures.

Bae was told that a cancer-stricken fan has devoted much of her time drawing hundreds of the Korea star’s portraits, hoping she could still have a chance to present them to Bae in person.

Hearing this, Bae said he would like to meet her very much, and hoped the organizers of his visit could arrange a meeting.

The director of “April Snow” said he appreciates Bae’s talents in acting and considers him a hardworking, thoughtful, and honest person.

Bae Yong-joon said that he looks forward to working with Chinese directors, and he would like to work with Ang Lee, the famous Taiwan director of the Oscar-winning movie “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”

“This is a good way to see better cooperation between film makers from different cultures,” said Bae.
