Hallyu Star Han Ji-hye has been named a promotional ambassador for French films in Korea, informed her agency Wayz Company,

Wayz told 10Asia over the phone today that Han on Tuesday received a letter of appointment for the position at the opening ceremony for the Cine France program held at movie theater Hypertheque NADA in downtown Seoul.

Cine France is a weekly film screening event that has been featuring both old and new French films at Hypertheque NADA every Tuesday evening since 2006, hosted jointly by the French Embassy in Korea, the French Culture Center in Korea and local film production company CineSeoul.

“I have always admired France as a country of culture and art,” Han reportedly said the same day. “I’m planning on taking part in a multimedia project with French Embassy to better promote France.”

This year’s Cine France will feature special exhibitions by French actress Isabelle Ann Huppert and the late director Eric Rohmer.

Born Lee Ji-hye, Han made her debut as a supermodel in 2001 and has since appeared in many dramas such as “Summer Scent (2003),” “Sweet 18 (2004),” and “East of Eden (2008)" and films “My Boyfriend in Type B (2005)” and “Blades of Blood (2010)”

She is currently starring in MBC historical drama “The Duo” alongside actors Chun Jung-myung and Lee Sang-yoon.
