[News] “Dae Jang Geum 2” Has Been Confirmed By MBC.

On September 17, MBC has announced that they will produce “Dae Jang Geum 2,” a sequel to MBC’s mega-hit historical drama “Dae Jang Geum” (also widely known as “Jewel in the Palace“). Kim Jae Chul, the CEO of MBC, announced the sequel after visiting China’s Honam TV.
Honam TV first broadcasted the drama within China in 2005 and it became very popular, helping spread Hallyu in the region.
The CEO revealed that the sequel is planned to be in production in 2013 and has negotiated with Honam TV.
Lee Young Ae, the protagonist for the original drama, has received a lot of popularity in various places in Asia like China, Japan, Taiwan as well as other countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
It’s also been revealed that the director who worked on “Dae Jang Geum” has a high chance of coming back to work on the sequel.
