Cr. - jaynestars

No one can deny that Raymond Lam (林峯) has been all over the media lately. Aside from tabloid reports about his love life, there are also reports on his new dramas, movies, concerts, and advertisements. Raymond once stressed that he will never deliberately stop himself in a certain position, but would get a hold of his own requirements through continuous learning and different forms of work.

Raymond’s new movie, Saving General Yang <忠烈楊家將>, will be released on April 4. “This is definitely a big breakthrough for me. Compared to the relaxing romantic comedies in the past, this is a classic epic household story. It extols the greatness of loyalty and affection, which can be more important than life. The script which displays the dramatic interaction between the cast was really memorable for me. I would like to thank director Ronny Yu (于仁泰) for giving me the chance to participate.”

The movie emphasizes how loyalty is often more important than life. Raymond explained that besides loyalty, if a person loses his basic freedoms, status and money are both futile. “There is nothing more precious than freedom,” Raymond said. “Therefore, we have to appreciate it and enjoy our right of having it.”

With his beginnings in the television industry, Raymond thanked TVB for giving him consecutive work opportunities. “Honestly, although filming dramas are a lengthy and tedious process, I still enjoy it. I’m clear of the fact that I’m already luckier than many others, because I am able to have a job I like. Plus, there is a lot of competition in this industry. If I don’t take things seriously, it is easy to be eliminated.”

Even though Raymond has been in the industry for 14 years, he admitted that he is still not used to, nor does he like having a camera follow him around when he is trying to live a normal life. “Especially when the media makes up a story based on a single photo that meets their desires. At first, I resisted it, but later I found that nothing is going to change. Might as well focus on my work and not care about the lame reports.”

Raymond continues, “Everything is in your hands and your heart. Even with the heart to do something, it won’t be successful if you don’t use your hands to do it, or your brain to think about it. For instance, there are many doors in front of you. Some might think there is a beautiful meadow behind them, but they don’t have the courage to open it.
I’m going to be the person who opens the door, because if it remains closed, then everything is only imagination. When we’re old and we don’t have the strength to open the door, there would be regret. I don’t want to give myself chances of regret. At the same time, I appreciate everything around me even more because of my tedious job.”

In conclusion, Raymond said, “You won’t possess something forever, because nothing always stays the same. I treasure all I have, so I try to do everything with the best of my efforts.”

[VOD & News] “Bu Bu Jing Qing” Releases First Trailer.
Cr. - jaynestar

On March 26, Chinese Entertainment Shanghai (Tangren) released their first sneak peek trailer for their upcoming television drama, Bu Bu Jing Qing <步步惊情>, the sequel and modern retelling to their 2011 hit, Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步惊心>.

The four-minute trailer clip starts off with some reminiscing scenes from the first installment, which captures the tragic romance between lead characters, Ruoxi (Cecilia Liu) and Emperor Yongzheng (Nicky Wu). The nostalgic trailer ends with Ruoxi’s death, with Yongzheng voicing the words, “If you can’t come to my world, I’ll go to your world to find you.”

The trailer then pans to the blessing ceremony and some behind-the-scenes footage of Bu Bu Jing Qing in Tianjin, which commenced shooting earlier this month.

http://res.img.ifeng.com/2013/0305/wm_248dd5fc66037da3db6122f624ce160b.jpg

The trailer also provides an exclusive new look at the drama’s plot, which was kept relatively private since the serial’s cast announcements in early 2013. In the trailer, Cecilia’s character, Zhang Xiao, is revealed to be a designer who works at Zhentian Group, a large public company. The reincarnation of Yongzheng, Yin Zheng (Nicky), is the adopted son of Emperor Kangxi’s reincarnation, Kang Zhentian (Damian Lau), the Chairman of Zhentian Group.

Zheng, along with Kang’s eldest son Kang Sihan (Sun Yizhou), are both prospective heirs to the Zhentian Group. By getting herself romantically involved with the two brothers, Xiao reluctantly gets herself embroiled in the Kang family feud.
The teaser scenes also revealed Cecilia portraying a mysterious second character – Lan Lan.

Directed by Lee Kwok Lap (李国立) and produced by Karen Tsai (蔡艺侬), Bu Bu Jing Qing also stars Jiang Jingfu (蒋劲夫) as Kang Siyu, Ye Zuxin (叶祖新) as Jack, Annie Liu (劉心悠) as Ma Yiruo, and Ye Qing (叶青) as Meng Xinyi.

[News] Kdramas Remain The Rage In Japan.
Cr. - kdramastars

It all started when "Winter Sonata" was first aired in Japan in 2002. Broadcast on a satellite channel, it was the first Korean drama that captured the hearts and imaginations of Japanese viewers. The show's impact was so huge that it helped improve relations between the two countries, which have previously not always been friendly.

The drama inspired tours to visit the Korean filming sites, an interest in Korean culture and cuisine, and even the publication of the first Japanese-to-Korean phrase book.

Some say that's how the Hallyu wave began and after that it just kept rolling on, with kdramas becoming a favorite form of entertainment in Japan and around the world.
Japanese fans embraced kdramas in a big way with some of the most popular shows being "Dae Jang Geum," "My Name is Kim Sam Soon," "Brilliant Legacy," "Goong," "Coffee Prince" and "Mary Stayed Out All Night."

According to the Japanese DVD sales and rental company, CCC, one of the biggest hits to date was the comedy "You're Beautiful," which ranked #1 Hallyu drama in DVD sales in 2010, boosting the Japanese popularity of actor Jang Seun Guk.

http://cfile226.uf.daum.net/image/274D64355143671110B43A

Many kdrama actors and actresses have a considerable fan base in Japan.

Perhaps the biggest kdrama star is Lee Min Ho, who was voted the number one top Hallyu star by the Japanese magazine, "Want to Know More! Korean TV Drama," which sells about 80,000 copies a month. But Kim Jaejoong of JYJ may be almost as popular for both his singing and acting. Jaejoong ranked top Hallyu celebrity in Japanese Twitter's Hot Word and Retweet function.

Other Korean actors also have their share of dedicated fans. Besides Jang Keun Suk and Kim Hyun Joong, other actors that are well known in Japan are B2ST's Gi Kwang, Song Joong Ki, Kim Bum, Super Junior's Siwon, Lee Joon Ki, and Cha Seung Won.
Popular actresses include Song Hye Gyo, Son Ye Jin, Moon Geun Young, and Yoon Eun Hye.

Kdramas are so popular that Japan's Fuji TV (Channel 8) airs mostly Korean dramas and many are shown in primetime.

But the popularity of kdramas is not without controversy and has caused some negative feedback. In 2011, Japanese actor Sousuke Takaoka tweeted his anger at seeing so many Korean dramas on Japanese television. He wanted to see more Japanese dramas. The reaction to his comments was so strong that his talent agency fired him.

But apparently Takaoka was in the minority as two years later, Japanese fans remain loyal to kdramas with many eagerly awaiting the Japanese airing of recent series such as "I Miss You" and "Iris 2."

Actress Song Hye-kyo has sponsored the publication of guidebooks for the blind at the Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.

She covered all costs for the project organized by Seo Kyoung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University.

Seo came up with the project after finding that braille guidebooks were unavailable at the site despite the large number of visually impaired visitors. Song joined the effort at his suggestion last November.

Song's role in SBS drama "The Winter, the Wind Blows" helped her better understand the challenges faced by people with disabilities, her agency said. She plays a blind heiress of a large company in the program.

Song Seung Hun talked about his upcoming MBC drama “When a Man Loves.” The drama is a love story involving the Korean mafia. Song Seung Hun plays the character “Han Tae Sang.” Han Tae Sang is an organized crime member in a Korean mafia who was betrayed by his own boss. Afterwards, he took out the boss and made his financial company successful.

Son Seung Hun talked about how he came to choose the character, “I was thinking that I would need to have an image change, I always wanted to try acting out a character that was rough. Although people seem to like flower boys these days, I don’t want to remain with that image. I believe that all male actors have the desire to seem manlier.”

He also spoke a bit about acting out his character, “I don’t easily get satisfied with my acting. Although I try, I know improvements do not happen overnight. My character is not merely just an organized crime member he has a split-personality. On one hand, he does a very clumsy type of love at first, and later he even plans revenge. Even now I am thinking about how I will act.”

The first episode of “When a Man Loves” will broadcast on April 3.

On March 27 during the press conference for upcoming MBC drama “When a Man Loves,” actress Shin Se Kyung discussed her thoughts on playing characters with unfortunate backgrounds. In addition to the role she will play in this new drama, Shin Se Kyung has in the past played another character of poor background in sitcom “High Kick Through the Roof.”

Shin Se Kyung stated, “The character I played in ‘Highkick’ must have been very memorable. Some have even suggested that I get offered these roles because I look pitiful.”

She continued, “I think many of the main characters in Korean dramas often come from unfortunate backgrounds. It is not a bad thing. Especially in melodrama, it is fitting. Perhaps continuing to play similar roles may affect my career negatively in the future, but that is something I need to overcome.”

When asked about public’s criticism on her acting skill, Shin Se Kyung answered, “I am trying my best to solve this problem. It is hard since I can’t help but be sensitive to what others think. I sometimes wonder if I should just focus on acting truthfully, or on how others would see me. I am receiving a lot of good advices from senior actors. I am doing my best.”

Meanwhile, the first episode of “When a Man Loves” will be aired on April 3, 2013.

[News] Goddess of Fire Portrays The Life Of Prized Female Potter.
Cr. - kdramastars

Although casting issues have not yet been resolved in the new historical drama “Goddess of Fire Jeongi,” the story promises an interesting look at the life of a famous female potter enslaved during the 16th century Japanese invasion.

Moon Geun Young is said to have accepted the role in this historical drama.
The drama will follow the story of real-life 16th century historical and cultural figure, Baek Pa Sun, the first female ceramic artist in Joseon times.

The artist’s glazing skills were so prized, she was appointed as a china maker for the royal family. But her fame also resulted in her becoming a prize for Japanese invaders. She became one of many Korean artisans who were captured during the Japanese invasion in 1592.

She was enslaved under Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s order to enrich Japanese arts and culture. Forcibly removed to Japan with her fellow artisans, she helped create many new types of pottery that would be claimed as Japanese works of art. The 32-episode drama will follow the twists and turns in her fascinating life story.

This would be the second historical drama for Moon Geun Young, who earned praise for her previous performance as the cross-dressing painter in “Painter of the Wind.” Her most recent appearance was that of the social climbing designer in “Cheomdamdong Alice.”

Casting is not final but two other actors have been named as possible male leads. It was rumored that actor Ji Chang Wook was a shoe-in for the role but his agency has denied those rumors, saying he has not even seen the script. The actor previously appeared in the historical drama “Warrior Baek Dong Soo,” penned by this drama’s screenwriter Kwon Soon Gyoo. One rumor claimed that the screenwriter requested him as the male lead because he enjoyed working with him on “Warrior Baek Dong Soo.”

Another rumor said that Kim Jaejoong of JYJ would play the lead or second lead, which the script requires to be Japanese. If fluency in Japanese is an important factor in the casting decision, Jaejoong would have one advantage as since he speaks Japanese fluently. Jaejoong has already appeared in one historical drama, “Dr. Jin.”

The MBC drama has been described as reminiscent of the historical saga “Dae Jang Geun,” about an orphaned female cook who becomes the king’s first female physician.

Park Seong Soo, who directed “Dr. Kkang” in 2006 and “Beating Heart” in 2005 will direct the series.

"Wonderful Mama" is an SBS weekend drama that illustrates how life can interfere with the best-laid plans. Its heroine Yoon Bok Hee, played by Bae Jong Ok, has accomplished a lot in her life, working her way up from running a money-lending market stand to managing millions. But her priorities shift when she's faced with a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's. Her degenerative disease threatens her ability to manage her business and eventually the details of her daily life.

After receiving her diagnosis, she realizes that her most important goal is helping her children to grow up in a hurry. She must teach them how to run the family business and they must also learn how to care for her when she can no longer care for herself. It won't be easy as they still have a lot of growing up to do. Her eldest daughter, Go Young Chae, played by Jung Yu Mi, is spoiled and argumentative, the kind of girl you often described as a princess.

At work, short-tempered Go Young Chae, a designer, finds herself at odds with a nice guy, Jang Hoon Nam, played by Jung Gyu Woon. The second son of a clothing factory family, he lost his parents at an early age and cares for his hearing-impaired brother. Because of his own strong sense of responsibility, he tries to make Go Young Chae into a better person and in the process falls in love with her.

The drama also stars Lee Chung Ah as Young Chae's sweet, clumsy friend. Oh Da Jung. Da Jung is treated badly by others, including her own husband and is often taken advantage of. She's in need of protection.

Headstrong Go Young Chae will be Jung Yu Mi's first leading role. In "Rooftop Prince," she played the Hong Se Na, the second lead and in "A Thousand Day's Promise," she played Noh Yang Ki.

As if reversing positions, second lead Lee Chung Ah previously played the lead role, Yang Eun Bi, in last year's popular comedy "Flower Boy Ramen Shop" and this year stars in the film, "The Five."

Jung Gyu-woon appeared in two dramas last year, in "Horse Doctor" and "I Need Romance."

Set to premiere in May, the series is directed by Yoon Ryoo Hae, who directed "I Love You," and written by Park Hyeon Joo, who worked on "Hooray for Love."
