유인촌 장관의 축하받는 배용준
한류스타 욘사마 배용준이 18일 오후 충북 청주시 예술의전당에서 열린 ‘2008 문화의 날’ 행사에 참석해 화관문화훈장을 수여 받은 뒤 유인촌 문화관광부 장관과 악수를 나누고 있다.
배우 배용준이 한류스타 최초로 문화훈장을 받는 영광을 누렸다.
배용준은 18일 오후 4시 충북 청주 예술의 전달에서 열린 '2008 문화의 날' 행사에서 화관문화훈장을 수훈했다.
배용준의 이번 화관문화훈장 수훈은 한국 문화를 세계에 알린 공로를 인정받아 이뤄진 것이다.
배용준은 KBS 드라마 '겨울연가'를 통해 일본에서 폭발적인 인기를 누리며 최고의 한류스타에 등극했다. 지난해에는 MBC 드라마 '태왕사신기'에 출연하면서 국내에서도 그 존재감을 입증했다.
배용준의 수훈은 한류스타 중에서 최초라는 점에 더욱 의미가 깊다. 이영애가 2007년 MBC 드라마 '대장금'으로 세계적인 열풍을 일으킨 점을 인정받아 수상대에 올랐지만 이는 문화포장이었다.
한편 배용준은 이에 앞선 14일 오전 10시30분 서울 소공동 롯데호텔에서 열린 제35회 관광의 날 기념식 및 '2010~2012 한국 방문의 해' 선포식에서 한국관광홍보대사로 위촉됐다.
현재 한국의 아름다움을 소개하는 여행 책을 집필하고 있는 등 대표 한류스타로서 바쁜 행보를 펼치고 있는 그의 활약에 국내외의 관심이 모이고 있다.

This is Yang Geun Hwan.
Just the day before, BYJ was appointed as Korea's Ambassador for Tourism by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. BYJ, who has always been sharing all things Korean with the family and who has been sharing his joy with the family, is immensely happy with this new appointment.
Just some days ago, BYJ had gone on a 2D1N trip to Gyeongbuk and Andong with the staff in preparation for the book, Beauty of Korea. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go with them.
BYJ visited the pottery exhibition, tried the soybean paste at the soybean village, and he even stayed a night at the traditional Korean house; the trip was as meaningful as it was enjoyable.
Currently, BYJ is immersing himself in the actual on-site research for the purpose of writing the travel book, and he too has been expressing his own views and opinions actively during the planning meetings. At the same time, he is also studying the ideas submitted by the family very carefully; he is carrying out the preparation work (for the travel book) very diligently and earnestly.
Looking at BYJ's genuinely sincere attitude, the rest of the staff including myself will all think this way, "We too have to put in our best work!"
We will continue to work hard on creating a book that will allow us to share the beauty of Korea with the family.
