BOFi, Vice-President
Reveals for the First Time,
Yonsama... Next Business to be Ecology Based!

“I am currently commuting every other week between Japan and Korea. When I am in Seoul, I often see YJ-ssi in business meetings. Sometimes when we can get away from work, we drink wine and dine together.”

So said Jung Kyeong Eon, the Vice President of BOFi, BYJ’s Japan management agency, and the manager of Gosireh Hwa, that opened in Nagoya on September 10.

Currently, Mr. Jeong is the manager of the organic restaurant, Gorilla, the café Tea Loft and he is also the representative director of the restaurant division, Gorilla Life Way. (*bb: mm... could this be way of life instead? way life sounds abit strange to me...)

He was headhunted in April 2005 for his marketing experience and he is the right hand to Yonsama, the entrepreneur.

Mr. Jeong, who is making his first appearance in the Japanese media, is a good looking guy equal to that of a hallyu star. Wearing a gray suit, and with an interpreter present, he pleasantly complied with our request for an interview.

“All the way up to the opening of Gosireh Hwa, I spoke at length with YJ-ssi. He had his thoughts fully prepared beforehand and presented them at the meetings. He consulted with everyone together before deciding on the restaurant name.”

Yonsama is said to be the proficient businessman who always presents a detailed business concept.

“He is a person with high goals, wanting to offer superior products and he is always considering how to offer those products. As an actor, he is has an inquiring mind, and he is famous for not compromising, but his attitude about paying attention to detail is something that all the employees are following.”

Often, Mr. Jeong is amazed at how clearheaded Yonsama is. Seeing Yonsama away from work, he was struck by what a strong sense of duty Yonsama has.

During the interview, Mr, Jeong drank carbonated water, San Pellegrino. Mr. Jeong seems to be following in the footsteps of Yonsama, who is strict about managing his own personal health.

“Like YJ-ssi, I do not drink much alcohol. The Gorilla nutritionist and trainers advise the employees of Gorilla concerning meals and physical exercise, and I tell the employees to take care of their health.

YJ-ssi asks three things of us. 1) To offer truly healthy and beneficial food to customers 2) that the food be tasty. Then above all, he is especially concerned about 3) the environment.

The fact that individual dishes would be served in appropriate portions at Gosireh Hwa was made out of consideration for the environment. When food is left over, unnecessary water is used to discard it and carbon dioxide is emitted.”

Mr. Jeong revealed that Yonsama is seriously next considering an ecology based business.

“The truth is that when I first started working, plans for the Gosireh Hwa opening were already completed. The last goal to work on is the ecology business. We do not want to make the environment issue a passing phase. It is our wish to become a business that helps the environment, and it is our future plan to expand businesses in the environmental field.”

By not just limiting themselves to Japan and Korea, they want to be a business that assists in the lively mutual exchange of culture throughout Asia. Mr. Jeong is always discussing this idea with Yonsama.

“In the future, along with YJ-ssi, we would like to expand beyond the framework of the restaurant business to advance internationally, and to make a contribution to society through an environmental business.”

As Mr. Jeong spoke passionately of his future dreams with Yonsama, the “fire (hwa)” already burned in his eyes.

[ PS. about the Gorilla Life Way...if you access Gorilla's website, I believe there's some posts about healthy lifestyles...maybe that's what he meant? but it's all in Korean so I could be wrong. I saw a post about Healthy Dining and 10 Healthy Eating Habits from Gorilla in The Kitchen. myoce ]
