[News] "Detective K" gets its first international screening in Germany.

While enjoying its highly successful run at domestic box office, Korean blockbuster, "Detective K" also gets its first international screening. The movie was recently released at the European Film Market (EFM) which runs from February 10 to 18, 2011 in Berlin.

The EFM is one of the most important affairs in the international film industry where film producers, distributors, buyers, financiers, and other industry players gather every year. It is held parallel to the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which is considered as one of the leading and largest publicly-attended film festivals in the world.

"Detective K" is part of the official line-up of Showbox, the movie's distributor and financier. The movie had its market screenings on February 10 (Thursday), and February 13 (Saturday). The screenings were attended by potential buyers and other EFM participants.

According to Showbox, "Detective K" was first introduced to the international film industry as an upcoming movie at the annual American Film Market last year. The event, the largest of its kind in North America took place in Sta. Monica, California in November 2010.



Back at home, "Detective K" is currently number 1 in the box office for three consecutive weeks since its release on January 27. Despite potentially strong competition, it continues to hold the top spot with more than 3.5 million admissions to date, attracting moviegoers with the fun, entertaining and thrilling story about the adventures of Joseon's great detective (Kim Myeong-min) and his dog seller sidekick (Oh Dal-soo) as they try to solve the mystery about the series of murders in 18th century Korea.

The movie was directed by Kim Seok-yoon of the "Old Miss Diary - Movie" and "Old Miss Diary - Drama" fame, produced by Generation Blue Films and co-produced by Withus Film.
