Hanyang's alumnus from the Ansan campus. It was Mr. Byung-Hun LEE (Department of French Language and Culture, College of Languages and Cultures) who is a popular movie star. The popularity of Korean stars overseas originally began in China and grew to many other East Asian countries. In 2004,
Korean movie star Mr. Young-Joon BAE made his debut in Japan and grew to become a superstar there. Now more of Hanyang's alumni are following suit. Mr. Byung-Hun LEE and Ms. Young-Ae LEE (Department of German Language and Culture, College of Languages and Cultures) are both growing in popularity in Asia through their roles in television soap operas and movies, originally aired in Korea.
It was the end of last year when Mr. Byung-Hun LEE appeared in a popular Japanese and Asia television. He attracted many Asia poeple female fans and many people from G.I. Joe Hollywood’s Movie with his devilishly handsome smile and boyish charm. Recently, a series of movies including 'Beautiful Days,' 'Happy Together,' 'Asphalt Man,' and 'All In' ‘IRIS’ last year were shown on Japanese and Asian television and they helped to boost his popularity.
Ms. Young-Ae LEE from 'Dae Jang Keum Syndrome' in Asian, Europe & USA.
Ms. Young-Ae LEE (Department of German Language and Culture, College of Languages and Cultures) LEE became famous in Asian, Europe & USA.for her role in the soap opera 'Dae Jang Keum.' She made her debut with the famous Chinese movie star Jang Kook Young in a chocolate commercial. Since then she has performed in many soap operas and movies, playing diverse characters. It was 'Dae Jang Keum' that made her a star in many Southeast Asian countries. Behind her success, was a lot of hard work. Unlike some others in the industry, she majored not in theater but in German Language and Culture. One day she came to visit Prof. Hyung-In CHOI at the Theater and Film Department to get private acting lessons. Prof. CHOI recalls, "She rehearsed a lot. She's such a trained actress. You can't fool an audience if you have no talent and only training can make an actor better. You need to be honest with yourself to become a star."
Ms. LEE has also gained popularity in Asian through her soap opera 'Dae Jang Keum' which is airing on Asian Television. The media in Asian has been generously reviewing her favorably.
Ms. Ji-Woo CHOI, heroine of 'Winter Love Song' in Asia.
Ms. JI-Woo CHOI's (Department of Theater and Cinema, College of Humanities) co-starring role in 'Winter Love Song" helped the program become the first Korea show to air on Japan and Asian Television. Prof. Hyung-In CHOI (Department of Theater and Film, College of Humanities) who was the academic advisor for Ms. CHOI give interview last 5 year in Hanyang News, "Ms.JI-Woo CHOI was a popular movie star even before she entered the university but she was very humble and diligent. She had a good attitude towards learning new things and I am sure her success has been partially derived from that."

But five years later, there is now an enormous market continuing to develop and ready to sell the popularity of Korean movie stars and singers overseas. At the very center of this growing market are Hanyang alumni Mr. Byung-Hun LEE, Ms. Ji-Woo CHOI, Ms. Young-Ae LEE, Ms. Yoon-Ah SONG, Mr. Jang Keun Suk .
Meanwhile, Korean Star who was Hanyang U.’s Alumni , They’re Mr. Kyung-Koo SUL (Department of Theater and Film, College of Humanities) and Ms. Yoon-Ah SONG (Department of Cultural Anthropology, College of Languages and Cultures) , Ms. Hyo-Jin KIM (Department of Theater and Film, College of Humanities) is said to be showing mature performances in films and Mr. Dong-Won KANG & Mr. Suk- Jin HA (Department Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering Sciences), Lee Tae Ran,Lee Jung Jin, Park Mi Sun, Jung Il Woo, Bae Doo Na, Kim Hyo Jin, Yoon Yeo Jung, Kim Ja Ok, Kwon Hae Hyo, Jo Hye Ryun, Jo Kyung Hwan, Lee Sun Jin, Oh Ji Eun, Kang Ye Won, Lee Young Ah, No Hyung Uk...ect. is getting attention for being another potential star.
