[News] Sign wins (but just barely) in Wednesday ratings.

Two new shows kicked off with strong premieres today, bringing in ratings that were just within 0.2% of each other. SBS’s medical investigation drama Sign was the official first-place show with a rating of 16.1%, but MBC’s My Princess was close behind with a 15.9%.

On the other hand, KBS’s President dropped from its previous episode number of 10.0% to an 8.9%. It has been in single digits for most of its run thus far, unable to break through despite generally favorable reviews.

I haven’t caught much of Sign yet, which is next on the docket, though it looks like a well-made, brisk show that’ll probably incorporate a good amount of tense drama and suspense. (My big question is: Even if it looks good, will it be emotionally engaging?) On the other end of the spectrum, I thought My Princess had a fun, light tone, much as I expected.

It’ll be interesting to see how the race heats up tomorrow and in the coming weeks: Will they stay neck in neck, or will one pull ahead? Will people opt for a slick procedural show, or stick with familiar comfort-food fare in a bubbly rom-com?
