On March 20th, major entertainment company ‘Yoshimoto Kogyou‘ announced that nationwide fundraising efforts in theaters had raised around 15.6 million yen (about $190,000 USD) between the 15th and the 19th of March. The company appealed for donations on behalf of the disaster victims at 10 theaters around Japan, including Tokyo’s Lumine the Yoshimoto, Osaka’s Nanba Grand Kagetsu, and Nagoya’s Sunshine Studio.

Out of the $120,000 collected at the Nanba Grand Kagetsu, it was confirmed that two women donated about $12,000 between them. It’s said that the two women, who looked to be in their 50s or 60s, handed over $6,000 each in closed envelopes to the comedian duo Tanaka Kausu ・ Botan, saying “Please take it.” Tanaka Kausu (61) commented, “This theater is rooted in Osaka, so I’m sure that people have faith in us. The fans are sharing their feelings with us.”

The duo also collected donations at Nanba Grand Kagetsu after their performance on the 21st, alongside talent Silk.
