Singer and actor Eric's agency has denied he has been cast in an upcoming KBS drama.

An official from Top Class Entertainment told 10Asia on Friday that he had received the script for the upcoming TV series tentatively titled "Spy Myung-wol," which will star actress Han Ye-seul, but said "it is not true that he has been cast for the show."

"He is currently waiting for 'Poseidon' to resume shooting since production has come to a halt after North Korea’s unexpected shelling of South Korea’s Yeonpyeong Island in November," the official went onto explain.

"Poseidon," co-produced by Oh Sang-won and director Yoo Cheol-yong, whose works include dramas "All In" and "Heat," and is written by scenarist Cho Kyu-won of blockbuster hit series "IRIS," tells the story of special forces soldiers of the National Maritime Police Academy.

The show will also star TVXQ's U-Know Yunho, Kim Kang-woo and actress Kim Ok-vin.

Eric, whose real name is Mun Chong-hyok, made his debut through Shinhwa in 1998 which had been one of the most popular groups in the country and throughout Asia.

He then pursued a career in acting starting in 2003 and appeared in dramas such as “Strongest Chilwoo (KBS, 2008),” Que Sera Sera (MBC, 2007),” “Korea Secret Agency (SBS, 2006),” “New Employee/ Super Rookie (MBC, 2005)” and “The Phoenix (MBC, 2004).” He also appeared in films “June’s Diary (2005)” and “A Bittersweet Life (2005).”

Eric was discharged from the military in October 2010 and has visited several countries in Asia for his fan meeting tour. He is scheduled to release his mini-album during the latter half of this year.
