Major Korean broadcaster SBS has decided to consider airing a TV series starring actor Ju Ji-hoon late next year.

The series, named "Daepoongsoo" (tentative title), was supposed to show at the end of the year following "Chun-il's Promise" (tentative title) which is set for a premiere in mid-October but an official with SBS told 10Asia over the phone on Wednesday that the show will be put up for reconsideration in the latter half of 2012.

"We judged that more preparation was necessary for the planning phase of the show...... that it needs to be strengthened," the official added.

The official then said, "We wouldn't say that the show has been canceled completely... There's a chance of it getting produced since we plan to reconsider it next year," in response to reports from earlier in the day saying that the show had been called off.

"Daepoongsoo," a 50-part historical drama about the hidden story of the founding of the Chosun Dynasty, was to mark Ju's return to the small screen after completing his mandatory two-year military duties in November.

Ju, who has been serving his duty since February last year, is a former model who became popular after making his acting debut in the hit 2006 drama "Goong." He went onto to appear in KBS series "The Devil" the following year and films "Antique Bakery" and "The Naked Kitchen.

He halted his career in 2009 after receiving a six-month jail term suspended for a year along with 120 hours of community service for illegal drug use.
