Song Seung-heon's casting in an upcoming KBS TV series has yet to be confirmed, according to his agency on Wednesday.

An official with Storm S Company told 10Asia over the phone that it is true Song has been offered a role in "Brain" and is discussing the matter with related officials but has yet to finalize his decision.

Reports from earlier in the day said Song was cast as the main male character in the medical drama set to premiere in November.

"It's befuddling that reports have said he's made up his mind when he hasn't," the official added.

If Song takes on the drama, he will be replacing actor Lee Sang-yoon who was originally being considered for the role.

Actresses Yoon Seung-ah and Lee Hyun-jin were being considered for the drama as well but the show's chief producer Lee Gun-joon said they decided to change the cast because the actors were not in the suitable age range for their characters.

Some reports said the three were booted off the show and notified unilaterally of the decision but CP Lee said, "It was true we were discussing on casting them but they hadn't officially signed on for the show. The first script reading session was supposed to be on September 17 but this got cancelled as well."

Song, 34, has been one of Korea's hottest male actors since appearing in popular sitcom "Three Guys and Three Girls" (MBC, 1996) and has since starred in many television dramas and films including the smash hits "Autumn Tale" (KBS2, 2000), "Summer Scent" (KBS2, 2003) and "East of Eden" (MBC, 2008).

His most recent work was earlier this year in MBC TV series "My Princess" opposite top Korean actress Kim Tae-hee.
