[News] Kangta cast in Chinese movie remake of "Secret Garden," to attend Shanghai int'l film fest.

Korean singer Kangta has confirmed to play in a Chinese remake of popular Korean TV series, "Secret Garden."

Kangta, also known by his real name Ahn Chil-hyun, has been cast to star in "Mimi Huayuan" (in Romanized Chinese) and the shooting will begin next month, his agency SM Entertainment said in a press release on Thursday.

"Mimi Huayuan," is the Chinese film remake of SBS' hit series "Secret Garden" (2010-2011) starring Hyun Bin and Ha Ji-won that has inspired Korea's fashion trends and created popular quotes here.

The officials said that the reproduction crews include professionals from WETA Digital, a visual effects company that also worked on Hollywood's "Avatar" (2009) and "The Lord of the Rings" (2001-2003), and other cast members will be announced in order as soon as they are set.

With his yet unannounced role in the film, Ahn will attend the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) to be held in Shanghai, China, from June 16 to 24.

This is not the first time for the singer and actor to work with Chinese producers as he has starred in a number of Chinse TV series, including "The Irony of Fate" (translated title) on CCTV in 2007 and historical drama "Emperor Jin" (translated title) last year.
