[News] “The Horse Doctor” Breaks Own Record, “Ohlala Couple” Closes Curtain with Lower-than-expected Numbers.

MBC historical drama “The Horse Doctor” has stretched its winning streak for the seventh straight week on the Monday and Tuesday primetime ratings chart.

The Cho Seung-woo and Lee Yo-won starrer took the crown on the chart with an average rating of 17.4 percent during the week of November 26 and 27, according to data polled by TNmS [Total National Multimedia Statistics] Wednesday.

Directed by renowned producer Lee Byung-hoon of Hallyu epic drama “Jewel in the Palace” (2003-2004), this week’s episodes of “The King’s Doctor” helped the drama shatter its own record by portraying Baek Gwang-hyun [played by Cho] taking a medical exam to diagnose the King of the Joseon Dynasty.

With a pretty big gap with the chart-topper, SBS “The King of Drama” claimed the No. 2 spot for the first time with 8.7 percent during the same time frame.

Starring acclaimed actor Kim Myung-min, actress Jung Ryeo-won and Super Junior’s Siwon, the runner-up of this week has received favorable reviews from the critics through the story about the reality of the drama-making process in South Korea.

KBS’ 18-episode drama “Ohlala Couple” landed at the bottom position with 8.6 percent, wrapping up its run on Tuesday.

The Kim Jung-eun and Shin Hyun-joon starrer used to keep its No. 1 title with its whimsical story during the beginning of the drama. However, after the drama entered to the latter part to solve the conflicts between characters, "Ohlala Couple" turned into no more than just a cliche melodrama and started to lose its audience.

To fill the gap in the Monday and Tuesday primetime lineup, the broadcast will air “School 2013” as follow-up of “Ohlala Couple.” The upcoming drama has created a big buzz even before its premiere by starring Hallyu star Jang Nara, actors Lee Jong-suk and Choi Daniel.

In the meantime, AGB Nielson Media Research showed different orders of the three dramas from the TNmS’ during the fifth week of November.

While “The Horse Doctor” knocked out the competition with an average rating of 18.3 percent, “Ohlala Couple” and “THE LORD OF THE DRAMA” each sat at the No. 2 and No. 3 s
