Among the many stars who voted and took proof shots, Yoon Eun Hye was one of them. However, it turns out that the photos went against voting regulations and the photos ended up being deleted.
On December 19, Yoon Eun Hye tweeted, “Voted before going to the filming set! Where should I take my proof shot? It looks pitiful but click! It’s very cold. Dress warmly like me before you come out,” along with several photos.
The problematic photos are the ones where Yoon Eun Hye is standing in line inside the building, making a peace sign with her hand. Since the peace sign, which also could be interpreted as the number two, which represents presidential candidate Moon Jae In, it violated the voting regulations.
Netizens were the ones to point this out, to which Yoon Eun Hye quickly responded, “I didn’t mean anything, it’s just a habit.”
Other netizens commented, “I guess she didn’t know that she couldn’t throw up a peace sign. It could happen,” “Another celebrity had to delete his/her photo because he/she threw up a thumb and violated the regulations,” “It doesn’t seem like ignorance but rather just a habit,” and more.
There are a few voting regulations in Korea regarding taking photos of the voting area. Taking a photo or video of a blank ballot is forbidden as well as taking a photo or video of a marked ballot. Taking a photo with a poster of a specific political party or candidate in the background is forbidden.
Also, presidential candidates in Korea have their own hand symbols. It is a violation if one makes that hand symbol and takes a photo. For example, presidential candidate Park Geun Hye‘s hand symbol is a thumbs up while Moon Jae In‘s hand symbol is a peace sign.
