[News] Rain won’t attend lawsuit hearing.

Rain has refused to attend a court hearing slated for today after the court summoned him as a witness against a businessman the singer sued for libel, according to local media reports yesterday.

The reports said, quoting the Seoul Central District Court, that Rain submitted a statement saying he would not attend the hearing.

Rain has given no clear reason for not making it to the court hearing, but the singer was reported to be concerned about the media spotlight.

Rain, who is currently serving his compulsory military duty, recently came under fire for meeting his girlfriend, Kim Tae-hee, while on duty.

According to the prosecution, the businessman, only identified by his surname Lee, was indicted without detention in March 2010 for disseminating a groundless claim that Rain embezzled money in collusion with the representative of a clothing company of which the singer was the largest shareholder.

Two journalists who reported the claim were also indicted but the case was later dropped.
