[News] “Cheer Up! Mr. Kim” Nabs 1st Throne on Weekly TV Chart.

The KBS daily drama series “Cheer Up! Mr. Kim” has claimed its first top spot on the weekly TV chart after long-term seizure by the weekly drama “Seo-young, My Daughter.”

The family drama grabbed its long-awiated first crown with an average of 30.3 percent ratings during the week of March 4 and 10, TNmS [Total National Multimedia Statistics] showed Monday.

With its 90th episode set to be aired tonight, the new couple in the drama, Tae-pyeong [Kim Dong-wan of Shinhwa] and Woo-kyung [Wang Ji-hye] is facing an obstacle in the shape of fierce jealousy from Woo-kyung's ex.

Sitting at the No. 2 position is “You Are The Best!,” a follow-up to the chart-topping series “Seo-young,” which posted an average of 26.5 percent ratings.

Starring IU, Cho Jung-suk, Yoo In-na and Lee Ji-hoon, the new family soap centers around an ordinary mother Jung-ae [Go Doo-shim] and daughter Sun-shin [IU], as they get into a series of trouble after the father passed away.

While the MBC weekend drama “One Hundred Year’s Legacy” soared to No. 3 after drawing in an average of 21.7 percent of viewers, the KBS primetime news show “KBS 9 o’clock News” ranked at the fourth spot with an average of 20.4 percent.

The MBC morning soap opera “Maybe Love” rounded off the top five with an average of 18.9 percent ratings by depicting an adventure of a woman striving to find love.

Other TV shows which entertained local audiences were MBC period medical drama “The King’s Doctor,” SBS hit series “Queen of Ambition,” SBS real variety show “The Laws of the Jungle,” KBS comedy show “Gag Concert” and MBC daily series “Oh Ja-ryong is Coming.”

Meanwhile, Nielsen Korea showed the top three programs in the same order and similar figures from TNmS’ during the first week of March.

While “Cheer Up” sat at the first place with 29.0 percent, “You Are The Best” and “One Hundred Year’s Legacy” followed next with 23.2 and 21.3 percent ratings, respectively.
