Ming Dao admitted that he is a “fool” for working so hard all these years just to pay his brother’s huge debts.
The Taiwanese artiste made headlines recently when his brother named him as a guarantor after owing a debt of about NT$6.5 million (approximately S$270,000) .The creditor also reportedly pestered Ming Dao a few times, demanding him to return the money.
According to the Taiwanese media, Ming Dao earns an annual income of at least NT$1 billion (approximately S$42 million). However, Ming Dao said that his brother is often in a debt and he has always been using his hard-earned money to pay his brother’s debts.
Ming Dao has made up his mind not to help his brother again this time as he wants his brother to take responsibility for his own actions.
“I have realised that I have been spoiling him by helping him to settle his debts all this while. It’s time to stop and let him learn from his mistake,” he said.
He also admitted that his family is bad at managing finances, but that he recently started making investments with his money because he “feels safer to have some money by his side”.
When asked about his feelings when he found out that his brother had named him as a guarantor without his knowledge, Ming Dao replied, “It’s like falling out of love. I can’t help but feel sad over the news, but life goes on as usual.”
The 33-year-old who just discharged from the army last month also said that he had changed for the better after going through military service.
He confessed that in the past, he liked to put on airs because he is a star and he often pushed responsibilities to others even though he that knew he was wrong.
