키이스트, 애니메이션 프로덕션 4개 社와 제작 협력 계약 체결

기대 속에 있던 <‘겨울연가’ 애니메이션>이 본격적인 제작 작업에 들어간다.
아시아 문화콘텐츠 기업 키이스트(www.keyeast.co.kr)는 국내 최고의 애니메이션 프로덕션 4곳과 제작 협력 계약을 맺고, 실질적인 메인 프로덕션 작업에 들어간다고 21일 공식 발표했다.

이번에 계약을 맺은 곳은 연필로 명상하기(프리프로덕션), G&G 엔터테인먼트, JM 애니메이션, 하이파이브 미디어(이상 메인프로덕션)의 국내 최고 애니메이션 제작사로, 국내 애니메이션 업계의 기술과 경쟁력을 세계에 알려 온 대표적인 기업이다.

키이스트는 경쟁 입찰 형식을 통해 위 업체를 제작사로 선정했으며,
특히 하나의 애니메이션 작품을 위해 다수의 제작사가 업무를 분할, 공동 제작하는 것은 애니메이션 업계 내에서도 유례 없던 일로, 한국을 대표하는 최고의 킬러 (애니메이션) 콘텐츠 제작을 위해 업계가 힘을 합친 것으로 풀이되고 있다.

또한 DVD, OST, 출판, 게임 등 일본 유명 업체들의 사업권 구입을 통해 제작 전 이미 제작 투자비에 대한 원금 회수가 끝나, <‘겨울연가’ 애니메이션>에 대한 초유의 관심 및 기대가 실질적인 수익 창출로 연계될 것으로 기대되고 있다.

키이스트의 한 관계자는

<‘겨울연가’ 애니메이션>은 배용준-최지우의 목소리 출연, ‘오세암’으로 유명한 옥관문화훈장 수상의 성백엽 총감독의 합류 등으로 관심을 받아 온 하반기 최고의 애니메이션 기대작으로, 30분 분량씩 26부작으로 제작되며 올 하반기 방영을 계획하고 있다.

Keyeast enters into cooperative production agreement with 4 animation production companies

New milestones set in the domestic animation industry – coproduction system, advance collection of all funds from investors, etc.

- Keyeast commences production of “Winter Sonata” animation.
- First instance of raising all required funds before the commencement of production, and unprecedented interest resulting in high profit expectations.
- Sleeping with the enemy occurs within domestic animation industry – establishment of first animation coproduction system.

The highly anticipated “Winter Sonata” animation will enter into the production stage.

The Asian cultural content company Keyeast Co., Ltd. officially announced on January 21, 2009 that it entered into a production cooperative agreement with four of the leading domestic animation production companies and that Keyeast will now enter into the main production stage.

The four production companies are Pencil Contemplations (preproduction), G&C Entertainment (main production), JM Animation (main production), and High Five Media (main production). These entities are the leading domestic animation production companies and they have been displaying the technical expertise of the domestic animation industry to the world. Keyeast selected these four companies through a competitive bidding process.

The use of a coproduction model for the production of an animation work is unprecedented and is regarded by the animation industry as the combination of the efforts of production companies for the creation of high quality content.

Through the advance sales to Japanese enterprises of DVD, soundtrack, publishing, game and other derivative rights, the entire production funds have already been raised before the commencement of production. The initial interest and high level of expectation regarding the project is expected to lead to high earnings.

A spokesperson for Keyeast stated that “the coproduction system, the raising of all production funds before the commencement of production, etc. are unprecedented not only in the animation industry but in all other cultural content industries” and that “these developments were made possible by the people who support our vision to create leading and competitive content.” The spokesperson also stated that “in order to become Asia’s number one entertainment content company which fully performs its role of creating content which appeals to all of Asia, Keyeast will continue to undertake new projects and always do its best.”

The “Winter Sonata” animation has attracted much attention due to the announced plans that Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo will contribute to the project with their voices for the main characters and in addition, the director, Sung Baek Yup, who became famous through his animation work entitled “Oseam,” has agreed to be the main director for the “Winter Sonata” animation. The “Winter Sonata” animation will be comprised of 26 episodes, which will each be 30 minutes long, and will be broadcast in the latter half of this year.
