They say that once you hit the top there’s only one way to go – down. After impressively hitting the top of all the music charts in Korea, the boys of Blue have been accused of plagiarism. Fans have said that their hit song “I’m a Loner” is a rip-off of another Korean indie rock band Ynot. Netizens were comparing C.N. Blue’s “I’m a Loner” to a video of Ynot’s performance of their song “Bluebird” from the 2008 Busaan Rock Festival.

The band Ynot is made up of vocalist Ju Mong, guitarist Kim Dae Woo, bassist Hyun Woo, and drummer Son Marley. Ynot’s musical influence is the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they say their style is a cross between the RHC and Bob Marley. They debuted in 2001 with the album “This is the Freedom to the Power” and they have released a total of five albums. They have been together as a band for over ten years. Here’s a clip of the group doing the song, “Bluebird” (파랑새) from their myspace page.

In an exclusive interview with Sports Chosun, Ynot vocalist Ju Mong and composer of the song “Bluebird” has said “C.N. Blue, my song was plagiarised.” He also says that “the melody and chorus part is very similar… mere coincidence is difficult to see.” The group first heard rumors about the similarities, but it wasn’t until the 18th that they saw C.N. Blue’s MV. When asked is he was ‘careful’ to bring up the claim of plagiarism he responded, “Yes, I’ve just been thinking, too upset at first, the case may be the biggest victim (is) C.N. Blue.” He says that he is waiting to hear from C.N. Blue, their management, and the composer of the song.

In a report by Economic News, FNC Music, the management company of C.N. Blue released a statement recently saying that claims of plagiarism is “absurd.” They go on to say that it is impossible to not have similarities with all the songs out there in the world and that only a court can decide if there is a case of plagiarism. FNC is also claiming that Ynot is using this controversy to get some attention off of C.N. Blue’s current fame.

I’m a fan of C.N.Blue so it’s sad to hear this news, but I gotta say the songs do sound similar. These management companies really should be more careful in their selection of songs for their talent. Maybe they should hire some of these netizen music afficionados to review their songs. Hopefully, this issue can be resolved and C.N. Blue can move on.

หลังจากที่มีข่าวว่า C.N.Blue เลียนแบบเพลง Blue Bird ของวง Ynot ซึ่งเป็นวงของเกาหลีเช่นกัน

ในวันที่ 22 มกราคม ทาง Newsen ได้โทรเข้าไปสอบถามทางเอเจนซี่ของวง C.N.Blue ซึ่งทางเอเจนซี่ค่อนข้างจะผิดหวังกับข่าวนี้และกล่าวว่า

“มันไม่ค่อยจะแฟร์เท่าไหร่ในการที่มากล่าวเช่นนี้ พวกเราจะพยายามเคลียเรื่องนี้ให้เร็วที่สุด ซึ่งภายในวันนี้ทางเราจะมีแถลลงการณ์เกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้”

ส่วนทาง Ynot กล่าวเกี่ยวกับเหตุการณ์นี้ว่า

“หลังจากที่ได้ฟังเพลง (I’m a Loner ของวง C.N.Blue) แล้ว มันก็ดูคล้ายๆ กัน ทั้งคอร์ดและเมโลดี้ ในความเห็นของเรา มันค่อนข้างจะยากถ้าจะแถลงว่าเป็นเหตุบังเอิญอย่างบริสุทธิ์ใจ”

เมื่อประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมงก่อนหน้านี้ ที่มีรายงานออกไปว่าทางบริษัทเอเจนซี่ของวง C.N.Blue จะออกมาแถลงเกี่ยวกับเรื่องเพลง I’m a Loner ที่ถูกหาว่าคัดลอกเลียนแบบงานกับเพลง Blue Bird ของวง Ynot ซึ่งด้านล่างนี้คือคำตอบที่เป็นทางการจาก FNC Music

FNC กล่าวอย่างเน้นว่า:

“ไม่น่าจะเป็นไปได้ ทั้ง 2 เพลงแทบจะไม่เหมือนกันเลย สิ่งที่เหมือนกันเพียงอย่างเดียวก็คือคอร์ดในช่วงอินโทรและสไตล์ของดนตรี ถ้าเพลง I’m a Loner เหมือนตามที่ต่างก็ถกเถียงกันอยู่เพราะเหตุผลเพียงแค่นี้ ถ้าเช่นนั้นเพลงบนโลกนี้ก็คงจะไม่พ้นข้อกล่าวหาเช่นเดียวกันทั้งหมด”

FNC Music กล่าวเพิ่มด้วยว่า:

“จากเหตุการณ์นี้ นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่พวกเราได้ยินเกี่ยวกับวง Ynot และเพลงของพวกเขาที่ชื่อว่า Blue Bird”

ในการกล่าวหาเรื่องลอกเลียนแบบ:

“การคัดลอกเลียนแบบจะถูกตัดสินได้จากทางศาลเท่านั้น ณ ตอนนี้ไม่มีแม้กระทั่งเรื่องส่งฟ้องถึงศาล แต่สื่อกลับใช้คำว่าลอกเลียนแบบแล้ว พวกเรากำลังวางแผนที่จะรับมือกับการกล่าวเช่นนี้อย่างให้เหมาะสมที่สุด”
