The storyline about life and times of the first female ruler in Korean history comes to screen in the 2009 historical drama Queen Seon Duk. MBC's grand period biopic has reached "national drama" status in Korea, attracting over 40% viewership rating with its fascinating historical melodrama, luscious production values, and captivating battle of wits between two strong female leads - Lee Yo Won (Surgeon Bong Dal Hee) as the eponymous heroine, and Ko Hyun Jung (Wha'ts Up, Fox?) playing brilliantly against type as the villain.
Produced by music director and composer Lee Si Woo whose credits include the soundtracks of Hur Jun, Sangdo, and The Great White Tower, the Queen Seon Duk OST brings together traditional Korean music, magnificent orchestral scores, and dramatic songs. K-pop teen sensation IU sings the ending title theme Araro (Track 7). Other vocalists appearing in the soundtrack include British tenor Paul Potts and musical stars Lee So Jung and Hong Kwang Ho.
