Son Ye-jin has dropped out of the blockbuster film project My Way, which had paired her with Jang Dong-gun.
Apparently the script has undergone revisions, and her character has been altered. The role has been given a drastic cut in importance, and the changes are significant enough that Sohn has decided to leave the project.
According to one source, “The plot has changed a lot from when the project was first discussed. Son Ye-jin and the director Kang Je-kyu spoke with each other and felt mutually apologetic as they decided that she would quit.”
My Way is set in World War II when a Korean man who was drafted into the Japanese army ends up participating in the Normandy invasion.
Son had previously worked with the director, who produced her movie Into the White Night. Jang also worked with him in Taegukgi six years ago. According to a source with the production company, they haven’t yet decided on a new actress to replace Son. After they do, the movie will begin filming in October, which will include location shoots in Germany and CHina.
