Korean Hallyu Star Bae Yong-joon’s book “A Journey in Search of Korea’s Beauty” has been nominated as one of the best literary works of 2010 by China News, one of the largest newspapers in China.
Each year the paper selects the best books in the categories of culture, social science, history, business, and arts and lifestyle. Each judge on the panel consisting of industry experts and publishers chooses three books out of 10 nominees in each category before the final five books of the year are selected.
The Chinese version of Bae’s photo essay, which was published there last September, was nominated in the lifestyle category and is the first Korean publication to make it onto the list in seven years. This year’s list of nominees also includes Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami’s bestseller “IQ84.”
The Korean edition of Bae’s book became an instant bestseller and went into a 13th impression just a month after its launch in September 2009. The book has also been published in Japanese and Taiwanese, and in English last month.
